Benefit the community and give back to the society by enhancing firefighting and disaster relief capacity in Wufeng! The Wufeng District Farmers' Association of Taichung City generously donated a four-wheel drive pickup truck to the Taichung City Government Fire Bureau for use as a disaster rescue and firefighting vehicle. A donation ceremony was held on July 24. Yang Yuan-chi, Deputy Director-general of the Fire Bureau, accepted the donation and presented a certificate of appreciation. Deputy Director Yang said that this resource will be fully utilized to improve firefighting and disaster response capabilities and bring a safer and better life to Wufeng. Deputy Director Yang said that disasters come with many faces in Wufeng District. In addition to heavy rescue services and fire cases, there are also special rescue missions in mountains and waters, which require transportation of personnel and equipment to offroad areas or difficult-to-reach places. The existing disaster relief vehicle used by the Wufeng brigade has been faithfully serving its purpose, carrying essential equipment such as rubber dinghies for water-related disasters. During flood seasons, the brigade shoulders the heavy responsibility of protecting the residents of Wufeng. However, the age has taken its toll and the car needs to be replaced. Deputy Director Yang mentioned that he would like to thank Hsu Dzai-hsing, the chairman of the Wufeng District Farmers Association of Taichung City, Huang Ching-piao, the executive supervisor, Huang Ching-chien, the executive secretary, and all the board members and supervisors for their support, and also thank Tai Chuhsien, chairman of Jinshunyi Construction Co., Ltd. for his connection and continuous care. This donation embodies the selfless dedication of the Wufeng District Farmers Association in Taichung City, and demonstrates the power of cooperation between civilians and government agencies. Hopefully, more charity power will be encouraged to support fire protection and protect the homeland. The Fire Bureau pointed out that the donated pickup truck by the farmer's association is a Toyota Hilux. The truck is equipped with radio, strobe light, electric winch and roof rack. It costs NT$ 1.66 million and comes with four-wheel drive, high chassis, strong terrain adaptability, and excellent off-road capability. It is very suitable for disaster relief needs in special terrain. As part of the Wufeng brigade, it will bolster the disaster relief efforts in the Wufeng area, allowing firefighters to reach rescue sites more swiftly and safely, with the anticipated result of optimizing disaster relief efficiency.
