The Fire Agency, under the Ministry of the Interior, organized a delegation to participate in the 20th World Police and Fire Games held in Manitoba, Canada, from July 28th to August 6th. Lin Hsiantsung from the Dacheng Branch and Liao Kunti from Beitun Branch of Taichung City Government Fire Bureau won multiple gold, silver and bronze medals in international competitions. According to the Fire Bureau, Mr. Lin won 7 medals with his extraordinary physical fitness and perseverance. He won three gold medals in the bench press, men's 74kg powerlifting and men's javelin. He won the silver medal in men’s 80 kg wrist strength (right wrist) and men's 74 kg jujitsu (no suit), and the bronze medal in men's 80 kg class of wrist strength (left wrist) and men's 76 kg jujitsu (with suit), displaying his comprehensive competitive strength. The Fire Bureau also highlighted the outstanding performance of Liao Kunti, who excelled in the World Police and Fire Games. He won gold and silver medals in powerlifting (including bench press + deadlift) and men's 105-kg bench press, respectively, and the bronze medal in men's 110-kg wrist-strength (right wrist), showing his strong athleticism and perseverance. Director Sun Fu-you of Fire Bureau said that the remarkable performance of the two contestants in the World Police and Fire Games was a full demonstration of the strength and professionalism of Taiwanese firefighters; they not only made the country proud, but also demonstrated the strength and fighting spirit of firefighters. Behind these victories are long hours of hard work and training. Their success serves as an inspiration to all firefighters in Taichung City, motivating them to actively safeguard the safety of citizens' lives and property.
