Strengthen safety inspections in public dangerous goods places to create a safe and livable Taichung.

The Fire Bureau works together with central units (Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau of National Science and Technology Council, Central District Occupational Safety and Health Center of Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the Economic Development Bureau, Urban Development Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, and Labor Inspection Office and other units of the Taichung City Government formed a joint inspection team to strengthen public safety in public dangerous goods places within the jurisdiction of Taichung City. They will target 96 public dangerous goods manufacturing, storage, and general processing sites within the city's jurisdiction with a controlled volume of more than 30 times. The "Strengthening the Safety Inspection of Public Dangerous Goods Places" campaign will run from September 1 to November 6, 2023, spanning nearly two months.
The primary focus of this joint inspection is to assess the implementation of security supervision system in public dangerous goods facilities, evaluate the safety of the working environment for laborers, review building security declarations, oversee factory registration and inspections, monitor the handling of public dangerous goods within factories, and assess the operation and management of toxic substances. For joint examinations, if any violations occur on-site, they will require strict investigation and improvement as well as a guide to enhance the independent check and emergency response capabilities of various public institutions. The Fire Bureau calls on operators to fulfill the concept of self-protection of their property and to implement self-defense fire drills, self-inspection of public dangerous goods security supervision, and maintenance of various fire safety equipment to strengthen disaster prevention functions and prevent accidents. The Fire Bureau will continue to work with relevant units to ensure the safety and livability of Taichung and improve the level of urban disaster risk management.
