The Ministry of the Interior's National Fire Agency has implemented a video reporting system as part of the 119 Duty Command and Dispatch System Enhancement Plan from 2022 to 2024. This system enables 119 command centers to assess the patient's condition more precisely and offer proper guidance.
The Taichung City Government's Fire Bureau noted that an 80-year-old man recently faced an unexpected emergency while hiking on the Dakeng Trail No. 9. Through the use of the video reporting system, they offered online first aid guidance and emotional support, ensuring the elderly man received appropriate assistance during the rescue operation, ultimately leading to a successful rescue.
The Fire Bureau suggested the elderly man maintain a comfortable position and be mindful of his breathing and consciousness. With a thorough assessment and proper medical care, he was safely transported to Tzu Chi Hospital for examination and treatment. The video reporting system allows 119 centers to assess emergencies more accurately and provide prompt first-aid guidance. It underscores the importance of first aid, offering guidance such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation and advanced cardiac life support before the patient is swiftly transported to the hospital, ensuring a seamless link in life-saving efforts.
The Fire Bureau puts a strong emphasis on improving the quality of emergency assistance and has introduced several initiatives to achieve this. These include the implementation of the video reporting system and emergency response simultaneously, aiming to enhance public safety and ensure that citizens are better equipped to respond to emergencies in an orderly and effective manner when faced with danger.
