Making transportation comfortable for search and rescue dogs: Taichung’s Special Search and Rescue Dog Team receives fire guard vehicle donation

The 300-C3 District, Lions Clubs International donated a fire guard vehicle to bolster the equipment of firefighting personnel. This vehicle will be utilized by the Special Search and Rescue Dog Team during disaster relief missions. The donation ceremony took place on March 26 at Sizhangli Sanguan Temple in Taichung, with Deputy Director Tai Chun-kun of the Fire Bureau accepting the donation and expressing gratitude by presenting a certificate of appreciation on behalf. The gesture acknowledges the support of the donor supporting firefighting work and enhancing rescue equipment.
The Fire Bureau noted that since the establishment of the Special Search and Rescue Dog Team, they have frequently appeared in major media outlets as they have engaged in relief efforts for various major disasters. For instance, during Taiwan's assistance in the earthquake relief efforts in Turkey, the search dog team was promptly deployed alongside the national rescue team. These dogs not only play a crucial role in disaster relief but are also integral members of the rescue teams. Recognizing the importance of ensuring the comfort and safety of these dogs during transportation, the 300-C3 District, Lions Clubs International donated a fire guard vehicle for the team’s use, further enhancing the rescue capabilities of the search dog team.
The Fire Bureau also noted that this donation symbolizes the community's support and recognition of their efforts. The Bureau is committed to ongoing improvement, actively safeguarding public safety, safeguarding citizens' lives and property, and fostering a safe, reassuring, and happy living environment in Greater Taichung.
The Fire Department mentioned that the 300-C3 District, Lions Clubs International donated a total of six vehicles and one pavilion for public welfare. These donations were respectively given to the Taichung City Government’s Fire Bureau, Taiwan Light of Love Association, Taichung Faith, Hope, and Love Smart Development Center, Taichung City Beitun District Dade Village Community Development Association, Lung Hsiao Temple Cultural Development Association, and Sizhangli Sanguan Temple in Taichung City.
