Taichung City, the second-largest city in Taiwan by population, has recently reached a total population of 2.85 million. With the population rapidly increasing, ambulance dispatch frequency has also risen significantly. Dr. Yeh Pu-tsai, with his selfless love and generous act, demonstrates a profound sense of concern and responsibility toward society. He donated a fully-equipped ambulance to the Taichung’s Fire Bureau, enhancing emergency response capabilities and improving the quality of medical care to safeguard the lives and health of citizens. The donation ceremony took place on May 14 at the South District Work Brigade in Taichung City, with Dr. Yeh presenting the donation. Lin Li-ming, a special committee member of the Fire Bureau, accepted the donation and presented a plaque of appreciation in return.
The Fire Department noted that Taiwan has faced numerous disaster challenges in recent years, leading to a higher demand for ambulances. The Seventh Corps of the Fire Bureau is located on Fuxing Road in South District, which is a crucial point connecting to the provincial highway. The corps serves South District, East District, Dali, Wuri, and Wufeng, and handles nearly 350 emergency cases monthly, resulting in frequent ambulance use. The Fire Bureau expressed gratitude to Dr. Yeh for supplying superior emergency medical resources to frontline emergency medical technicians.
Dr. Yeh said that, as a medical professional, he understands the critical role of community support in emergency medical resources. Frequently witnessing ambulances transporting patients to hospitals, he felt compelled to help to the best of his ability. He donated an ambulance equipped with a first aid kit, portable oxygen concentrator, electric stretcher, shockproof blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, and others. Through this donation, he aims to give back to society and help those in need.
Special committee member Lin Li-Ming noted that the recent population growth has resulted in the increasing demand for emergency medical services. While the government’s resources are limited, community support isn’t. Lin expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Yeh's encouragement and recognition of the Fire Bureau's work. He hopes this donation will inspire others to contribute to firefighting and emergency services. This contribution not only allows emergency medical personnel to better carry out their work but also strengthens Taichung's emergency medical network, greatly enhancing the protection of citizens' lives.
