To better meet varied disaster response requirements and streamline administrative tasks, the Taichung City Government’s Fire Bureau has invested millions in creating a smart single-sign-on information platform. This platform integrates up to nine different fire information systems, including fire water sources, equipment, vehicle management, training management and emergency supplies. Launched earlier this year, the platform features a digital identity verification mechanism that simplifies login for firefighters, reducing the account approval time from 2-5 days to just 4 hours, thus greatly enhancing administrative efficiency and information security.
The Fire Bureau noted that with the new single-sign-on identity verification platform, staff can log in once and access several fire information systems with ease. During a fire emergency, this quick login capability provides immediate access to critical information such as the location of water sources, the status of emergency vehicles and available rescue equipment and supplies. It also enables on-site commanders to quickly obtain information about the expertise of rescue personnel, facilitating faster and more effective disaster response and deployment to safeguard citizens' lives and property. Additionally, the improved process not only enhances rescue efficiency but also reduces the hassle of remembering multiple passwords, increasing the overall information security of the Fire Bureau. Furthermore, the platform's online account application feature has reduced the account approval time from 2-5 days to just 4 hours.
The Fire Bureau added that the platform allows for quick access to fire personnel's professional certification information, including those for rescue techniques, fire response, chemical accident response, survival training, drone operation, surface water rescue and diving, water supply, fire safety inspection, fire cause investigation and vehicle operation. The Bureau is ushering in a new era of digital management by establishing a training management system through this platform to manage training intelligently. The system features an intuitive interface and a streamlined registration process for training, and training results and certification statistics are securely stored in a cloud database.
Director Sun Fu-Yu of the Fire Bureau noted that with the development of the internet era, information security is an essential concern for agencies and organizations. The recent improvements to the information processing workflows not only streamline administrative tasks for firefighters but also upgrades the security of business information. The platform will continue to make improvements on a rolling basis to enhance both operational convenience and efficiency.
