Ms. Chen Chen Lin A-Chung from Dadushan donates high-roof ambulance, Taichung’s Fire Bureau expresses gratitude for her contributions to the community

Taichung's ambulance services are often overwhelmed. Ms. Chen Lin A-Chung, a community member known for her dedication to charity, generously donated a high-roof ambulance valued at NT$4.22 million along with related rescue equipment to the Lifen Branch of the Fourth Corps of the Fire Bureau. The branch serves as the main team safeguarding the Dadushan area, including Xitun, Longjing, Dadu and Shalu Districts, with attractions like Donghai Shopping District, Nanliao Hiking Trail and the Blue Highway nearby. The donation ceremony took place on September 7. It is hoped to enhance rescue resources and the quality of services for the local community.
Deputy Director Tai Chun-Kun of the Fire Bureau noted that government resources have limits, but private sector support is immense. He thanked Ms. Chen Lin A-Chung and her family for their great support and generous donation, which has provided the city with advanced rescue equipment. Director Tai expressed hope that this act of kindness would inspire others to contribute more resources to fire and emergency medical services, enhancing the safety of first responders during operations and strengthening the city’s emergency medical response system, ultimately offering greater protection for the well-being of citizens.
The Fire Bureau highlighted that over the years, Ms. Chen Lin A-Chung has always offered help whenever her community was in need. After being involved in a traffic accident last year, she was touched by the way first responders treated her with great care, which inspired her to donate an ambulance to give back to society. This high-roof ambulance has more space for operations and storage than standard models, enabling first responders to perform advanced medical procedures more conveniently and safely. It is also fully equipped with a full range of emergency equipment such as portable oxygen kits, an electric stretcher bed, maternity and burn treatment kits, automatic portable ventilators and tactical tourniquets, which will greatly enhance rescue capabilities and improve the overall quality of emergency services during rescue operations.
According to the Fire Bureau, the resuscitation success rate for pre-hospital cardiac arrest in 2022 was 32.87%, with 120 people successfully recovering and being discharged. Last year, the success rate increased to 35.56%, with 150 people successfully recovering and being discharged. This highlights the rigorous training of Taichung’s first responders, which, when combined with the generous donations of advanced ambulances and medical equipment, offers even greater protection for the citizens.
