The 3rd Section of the 8th Investigation Brigade, Criminal Investigation Bureau and Taiping Precinct, Taichung City Government Police Bureau Jointly Cracked an Online Professional Baseball Gambling Case

The 3rd Section of the 8th Investigation Brigade, Criminal Investigation Bureau and Taiping Precinct, Taichung City Government Police Bureau jointly cracked an online professional baseball gambling via the website operated by Wang, a criminal wanted for offenses against drug and personal reputation laws. 8 computers, passbooks, promissory notes and other evidences were found on site and the case was transferred to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for investigation.
  
The 3rd Section of the 8th Investigation Brigade, Criminal Investigation Bureau received reliable information telling that Wang et al. were suspected of engaging in professional baseball gambling and many victims were unable to extricate themselves until they dissipate all their fortune. Criminal Investigation Bureau then united with Taiping Precinct to develop investigation network, surveillance, interviews and found suspect Wang actually lived at Kungshuei Rd., South District of Taichung City. After laying in ambush over long period of time, police of Taiping Precinct found the time ripe and therefore went to said place with warrant around 20:00 October 27, 2013. They ferreted out the criminal and seized the preceding evidences.

With depth investigation, the suspect Wang has engaged in American professional baseball, American professional basketball, American football and American hockey such gambling and set the games in US dollars (to earn profit). The gambling amount in rough reached 100 million (converted to NTD).

During the investigation, polices found that suspect Wang launched the Internet baseball gambling site since July 2011. To hide from the investigation, he changed the place every few months and has been moving in and out more than 10 places. He also installed protective programs on the computers so that all the information would be deleted automatically as long as the computer is turned on again after being turned off. However, the policemen wait patiently outside for the suspect and followed him into the house while the computers were still on. Therefore, the policemen could download all the bets, books as well as the login account, password of the website from computer successfully and seize all the evidences. In addition to being transferred to Taichung District Prosecutors Office for investigation, the case also facilitated subsequent trace of other accomplices to maintain public order.
  
The police hereby appeal the public not to defy the law as trusting to luck. To show the determination of combating crime, the government will continuously reinforce the investigation on Internet gambling!
