Hosted by Taichung City Government, the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival will take place at Houli Horse Ranch & Forest Expo Site and Wenxin Forest Park in Nantun. In particular, the Wenxin Forest Park secondary exhibition area in Nantun District will be open from today (2019/12/21) until 2020/2/23 for a period of 65 days. With the theme of Fun-Filled Children's Amusement Park for the Entire Family, various theme lantern areas and performances have been designed to transform the venue into a children's forest paradise in the heart of the city. In supporting the opening of 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival's Wenxin Forest Park secondary exhibition area in late December, Taichung City Police Bureau's 4th Precinct will commit all of its resources in conjunction with assistance from the private sector including the auxiliary police and volunteer traffic controllers to ensure the safety of the public and smooth traffic flow. Together, they will step up public services so that the citizens can enjoy the lantern festival safely and conveniently with their family. According to Precinct Chief Wu Yao-Nan, the lantern lighting ceremony of Taiwan Lantern Festival's secondary exhibition area will take place at Wenxin Forest Park on 12/21. In order to minimize the impact of heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the local community, the necessary police resources have been allocated and traffic control implemented in concert with the city government. Moreover, the traffic conditions and traffic control measures around Wenxin Forest Park will be announced over PBS to raise awareness among the public and thereby ensure smooth traffic flow during the lantern festival. In an effort to maintain the safety of visitors during the lantern festival, the precinct has also arranged for security details to bolster various security efforts such as pickpocketing/theft prevention and anti-terrorism. Furthermore, traffic and security promotional films will be produced and screened on the precinct's FB fan page and all major social media during the lantern festival. The public is advised to make use of public transport such as HSR, TRA, bus and shuttle bus to reach Wenxin Forest Park secondary exhibition area so that everyone can leave their homes happily and return home safely.
