As the saying goes, "One must have a good tool to do a good job," in this era of advanced information technology, criminals are using various types of equipment, and this makes evidence collection more difficult and complicate. Thus, the Police Bureau promoted the smart police administration system to investigate crimes with the establishment of "Fusion Integration Platform in Crime Investigation" by purchasing high-tech investigation equipment and conducting big data analyses to dramatically improve crime investigation effectiveness.
Officer Lai Yu-Chun from Technology Investigation Brigade of Criminal Investigation Corps who developed the Platform said, "That the platform integrated several information systems of police administration affairs with capabilities to manage all criminal cases and conduct quick analyses for big data. With its assistance, the police can better track down targets including persons and vehicles as well as make decision on duty arrangements according to the current security situations. Additionally, it can incorporate with newly-purchased high-tech investigation equipment." At the initial stage, there were challenges and some peer policemen wondered why there was a need to learn the new system since the old one was already sufficient. After repeated descriptions, demonstrations and trainings given to the colleagues who were not familiar with the operations, systems and database expansion and incorporation with newly purchased high-tech investigation equipment, the police now enjoyed benefits brought by the Platform, applied to actual investigation cases and the improved efficiency. It is indeed an important drive to make Taichung City a safer city. "
