After the elevated Taichung railway completed, Taichung train station area has been changed with a new face through the「great station project」; the City Government has completed the construction of the square in front of the station and opened it for use. Taiwan Railway Administration has integrated the new and old station, warehouse No. 20, Taiwan railway employee dormitory and Chungnan station etc. all together to become the「railway culture park」 where there would be 2 old train locomotives of national treasure level will be exhibited in addition to the Guanghua and Tzuqiang Train will be renovated as the「sleeping car cultural accommodation」 trains to allow the railway fans to stay in the station for accommodations. Then they can enjoy the railway cultural history in a short distance so it will bring another wave of energy to facilitate the old town economic development.

Mayor Chia-lung Lin has said, when was present the kickoff ceremony of elevated Taichung railway whole line completion. Taichung is a city born for the railway establishment. Taichung train station owns not only the new 3rd generation of station but also reserves the old 2nd generation of station as the certified national monument with the reservation of the 1st generation of garage at Japanese ruled period. It’s the only one train station of「three generations in one」.

The transportation function of Taichung railway has been moved to the new station after being elevated. Taiwan Railway Administration has planned to transform the old station and warehouse No. 20 to be the「railway culture park」to reserve the enriched railway culture of the old station. It has been announced for investment seeking as per the regulations and Te Chang Construction Co., LTD. won the tender to proceed the project.

The officer of the City Government said,「Taichung great station project」has created the old town with the new vision to attract more companies to invest. One Taichung local company, Te Chang Construction Co., LTD. sees the development potential of the old town area so they decide to participate in the project of 「railway culture park」initiated by Taiwan Railway Administration to invest NT$3.1 billion of budget on integration of the national monuments, including Taichung station, the old platform 1 and platform 2, historical buildings in the old Taichung station rear exit and warehouse No. 20 series, the space under the southern west section of the elevated railway, the ground floor and the second floor of the new Taichung station for business use and the underground parking lot etc. to renovate and reuse the historical old monument constructions into the new remarkable points of central region.
Between the platform 1 and platform 2 of Taiwan railway, the railway tracks will exhibit 2 old train locomotives of national treasure level in addition to 4 cars of the Guanghua and Tzuqiang Train to establish the unique cultural features of Taichung train station; also, the station will offer the「sleeping car cultural accommodation」 to the fans of railway to stay at the station so they can see the old train from the best angle for observation.

Besides, the City Government is promoting the project of「Taichung Overpass」 and the south section is estimated to be completed by the end of this year. The lake ecological park of Taichung Empire Sugar Factory has been renovated by the City Government to become the historical construction as「Empire Sugar manufacturing factory—Taichung office」and handed over to the Economic Development Bureau to continue to establish it as the「Taichung industry story house」so Taiwan Sugar will invite the merchants to invest here. In addition to the Taichung Cultural Heritage Park（old Taichung Wine Factory）, Taichung Martial Arts Hall and Luchuan and so on, this is now formed to be the cultural creative tourism circle and bring a big development opportunity to the old town.
