Taichung Animal Protection Bureau has urged the public to love and respect animals or face fine (2006-07-31)

Taichung Animal Protection Bureau has urged the public to "Love Animal and Respect Lives". Any unreasonable harassment, abusing or harming the animals will be fined between NT$ 10,000 to 50,000 according the Animal Protection rule 30 from Executive Yuan Agriculture Committee. Citizens find animals needing to be rescued can contact the Fire Station (119) or Animal Protection Bureau Hot Line (04-23814978). Taichung Animal Rescue Hospital will be informed and rescue team will be sent for the animals.


Animal Protection Bureau says that a stray dog was found with rubber band tied around its neck near the construction site at SongZu 5th Road and JunFu 19th Road of BeiTun District. The dog was weak since it couldn't have food for days. Although with the help from animal protection groups, Taichung Universal Animal protection Association and the vet, Lin Yi Xiu's several visits, the mission still fell through. They decided to ask Taiwan Animal Emergency Rescue Team for help.


Taichung Animal Protection Bureau has sent agents to the construction site and Mi Huai Gu Animal Hospital to check on the rescued stray dogs, which have resumed eating. They are expected to be


transferred to Taichung Animal Emergency Rescue Hospital for follow-up treatment and adoption.


Taichung Animal Emergency Rescue mechanism is made up of animal protection groups, 17 animal hospitals (http://animal.tccg.gov.tw/page13/p13-06.htm)and Animal Control Bureau. Citizens find animals needing to be rescued can contact the Fire Station (119) or Animal Protection Bureau Hot Line (04-23814978).
