More than Two Thousand new born babies join in Taichung to celebrate the national day (2006-10-15)

There are 2,130 children from cross-culture marriages in the junior high schools and elementary schools in Taichung City. To help the couples and children to adapt into the culture here because of their different languages and culture backgrounds, the city government is arranging a series of social activities to celebrate "Healthy and Lively National Day". Mayor Hu said that Taiwan started out as an island, where people emigrated over at different stage. Taichung City government welcomes those who join the society and would like to help them with education issues.


Taichung Bureau of Education said that there are around 3,000 foreign spouses. The city government especially set up classes for those in junior and elementary schools. It is hoped that the foreign spouses can join the classes at night to help them adapt to the Taiwan society to be able to grow and learn together with their children.


The city councilors, Lie Shun-Ren, Liao Shi Zho, Tang Guo-Tai and Chen Cheng-Tien all attended the event to show their concern in terms of the foreign spouses' adapting in the society. They urge the city government to take good care of these new immigrants and bring the city to an international.
