Since Taipei City promoted the wrapped pineapple shortcake as the Taiwan Carrying Souvenir, the discussions about pineapple shortcake as famous Taichung product have been fervently initiated. Taichung City Government thus held the voting for the National Top Shortcake, associated with 2007 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival, in order to right the title of pineapple shortcake, and expected to promulgate the fame of Taichung pineapple shortcake through active marketing to get foreigner or Chinese tourists aware of assigning the National Top Shortcake in Taichung City as take-home gifts.

　　On 26th, in the press meeting inside the government hall, A-Fa and A-Tsung, well-known masters of pineapple shortcake showed their super-large product completed with two-day endeavors, 136 cm in length, 46cm in width, and 4 cm in height, set as a Taiwan shape and the Taichung Park Pavilion on it, with full filling inside, good looking and tasting. Deputy Mayor Hsiao Chia-chi could not help having a big bite on the head part of Taiwan without caring about his image, and said with smile that Badouzih Fishing Port of Keelung City was the current target, and next would be Kenting of Pingtung County, really eating from the head to the foot of Taiwan; the National Top Shortcake, crispy and crazily delicious.

　　According to Deputy Mayor Hsiao, Taichung City is the origin of pineapple shortcake and has oversea and domestic fames on its pineapple shortcake and sun cake as the well-known products within the City. Therefore, when Taipei City promoted Taiwan Carrying Souvenir, many city people expressed their angers and believed pineapple shortcake as Taichung City’s special product and not supposed to be used by other cities. Deputy Mayor Hsiao proclaimed in the event that the best and highest-class pineapple shortcakes in Taiwan were those made in Taichung City.

　　The recommendation period spans from Jan. 26th to Feb. 6th, and the voting term is between Feb. 13th and Mar. 13th on website. The top 10 businesses selected by the event will be the Most Popular Shops and will be able to participate in the National Top Shortcake Festival held in FengLa Park of Taichung City on Mar. 24th. We would like to welcome all pineapple shortcake lovers to the voting website (www.ygad.com.tw), and the final decision will be weighted 30% from website voting and 70% from cuisine evaluators.

　　We also expect people from other cities and counties to visit pineapple shortcake shops within city to enthusiastically support the internationally recognized product of Taichung City, and to invite friends to the voting website to explore the special hundred-year history of pineapple shortcake culture in Taichung City.
