The result of the vote for the new 8 landscapes of inner and outer Taichung City via internet held by Taichung City Government was unveiled in the Vote Result Press on 2nd, which indicated Taichung Urban Park and Gaomei Wetland as the top landscapes. Deputy Mayor Chia-Chi Hsiao expressed his gratitude toward the participation of nearly 180,000 people and expected each scenic spot to express its own features for connecting the central tourist link which expressed the charm of central tours and attracted tourists to visit Taichung and enjoy themselves here.

Deputy Hsiao indicated that the new 8 landscapes voted by the citizens differed from the previous landscapes; in the past, the commercial circles failed to be selected as a scenic spot in the past. However, the trend is changing. The places we buy things and the locations common to us may be the landscapes full of cultural contents which attract foreigners.

Chief Yung-Feng Chen of Department of Information stated that the top of the new 8 landscapes of inner Taichung City goes to Taichung Urban Park, indicating the emphasis of the public on the natural leisure life; the other rankings in sequence are First Chung Commercial Circle, Dakeng Trail for hiking, Taichung Park, Wanhe Temple, Fengchia Night Market, Arts Avenue Commercial Circle and National Museum of Natural Science. As for the top of the new 8 landscapes of outer Taichung City goes to Gaomei Wetland; the other rankings in sequence are Chen-Lang Temple in Dachia of Taichung County, Dongfeng Bikeway Green Gallery in Taichung County, Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area in Nantou County, Train Station in Chi-Chi Township of Nantou County, Lugang Township in Changhua County, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Sun Link Sea Forest Recreation Area in Nantou County.

The new 8 landscapes of inner and outer Taichung City connect the required natural landscapes, historical relics and shopping paradise to tourists as the miniature of Taiwan, rendering the one-day trip to see all Taiwan. In addition, the one-hundred-year Taichung Train Station and Broadcast Station fail to be included in the new landscapes, but they are worth visiting; as a result, Taichung City Government recommends the preceding 2 historic architectural landscapes to the public.

In the press prizes were drawn for whoever participated in the Vote. The top prize was the Bike X series offered by Merida worth over NT$30,000, won by Ms. Wen-Na Yeh; other prizes included coupon of accommodation in Taichung tourist hotels, coupon of amusement parks, and 3C technology items.
