2013 Lake Heart Fantasies will soon kick off at the Holiday Plaza of Taichung Park Pavilion from 15:00 to 4:30 on January 12 (Saturday). The first show will feature the Wen Shao Xuan String and Wind Indoor Orchestra (聞韶軒絲竹室內樂團). Meanwhile, there will be also cultural and creative booths at the surrounding squares of the century-old Taichung Park. The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government invites all our citizens to spend a leisurely afternoon together watching performances, sipping afternoon tea, and collecting stamps to exchange gifts!

The theme of this year's activities is "Lake Heart Fantasies in Trilogy” in which "Traditional Operas" will be performed between January and April, "Music Fantasies” between May and September, and "Dance Together 54321” between October and December. In total, there will be 24 performances in the whole year.The first event of "Traditional Operas" as“Lake Heart Fantasies - Episode I” will beheld at 15:00-16:30 on January 12 (Saturday), featuring Wen Shao Xuan String and Wind Indoor Orchestra, which is formed by a group of teachers who arevery devoted to promoting Chinese classic music education. At the first year of its establishment, this Orchestra won the first prize in the Taichung City Music Competitions for String and Wind Music (Social Group). In 2004, it was invited to accompany the singing performance of Wang Lee-Hom (王力宏) in the Golden Horse Awards ceremony. It has been elected one of the best performance teams in Taichung City for many years since 2005.It has been frequently invited to perform overseas at such venues as the Lincoln Center (New York, USA), the New York Chinese Cultural Center (in Flushing, New York), and Boston. It is highly acclaimedas one the most active string and wind music indoor orchestrasin central Taiwan.

"Traditional Operas" as“Lake Heart Fantasies - Episode I” will be performed at 15: 00-16: 30, very Saturday in the second and the fourth weeks between January and April. (Theeventon February 9, the Lunar New Year's Eve, will be postponed to February 14, the Valentine's Day.) The best performing teamsin Taichung City will be invited to show Taiwan's traditional music, rapping, Taiwanese operas, and folk arts. There will be also cultural and creative booths in which Taichung City's most popular street artists will be invited to show their talent in “quick painting", "balloon shaping", "drinking straw crafting", “portrait sketching" and others. Moreover, afternoon tea will be served, so that you can enjoy sipping tea while watching the show.

"Collecting stamps to exchange gifts" is a special campaign designedthis year to encourage people to take part inas many events as possible. For every event participation youcan collect one stamp. Six stamps can be used to exchange a photo frame to signify that you and your family and/or friends have held hands together to watch the shows. Sixteenstamps can swap for a desktop fan to cool you down during the summer heat. Twenty-fourstamps will qualify you to exchange a set of "four-in-one warm keepers (caps, scarves, gloves, and slippers) to symbolize that you will have taken part in all the events held in 2013.
