Transportation Tips Revealed for Admiring Flower Sea and Attending the Flower Carpet Festival
After a hiatus of 3 years since it was relocated to Houli in 2016, Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival makes a powerful comeback to Xinshe. The festival will be organized in conjunction with the Xinshe Flower Sea and Central Taiwan Agricultural Expo from November 9 until December 1. In consideration of the potential heavy traffic, Taichung City Transportation Bureau has launched 4 free bus services and dedicated flower sea parking lots to bring visitors to the exhibition venues.
According to Transportation Bureau Director General Yeh Chao-fu, free shuttle service will be available daily for the duration of the event. From Monday to Sunday, shuttle service linking Taiyuan Parking Lot in Beitun, Fengyuan Rail Station, and the exhibition areas will be provided, while the Dongshi Line shuttle service will be added during the weekends connecting Dongshi Riverside Park and the flower sea exhibition area. The buses depart every 20-30 minutes on average during weekdays and 15-20 minutes during weekends. The buses will depart as soon as they are fully occupied.
Ten city bus routes stop at Xinshe Community (bus 91, 264, 265, 270, 271, 272, 276, 277, 278, and 279), and citizens boarding the flower sea shuttle bus and city bus will be given propriety access to the exhibition areas, so please take advantage of the convenient service.
In addition, chartered buses are also welcome at the flower sea! Large vehicles can be parked on the west side of Huafeng St. (parking on the east side is prohibited). Please park according to the instructions given by the traffic controllers at the scene.

Director-General Yeh pointed out that in light of a large number of flower exhibition visitors and their parking needs, exclusive flower sea parking lots have been established outside the exhibition areas (Taiyuan Parking Lot, Xinshe Senior High School (only opens during the weekends), Xinshe District Office, Fucheng Park in Xinshe, Dongshi Riverside Park, and Zhongxingling Parking Lot. Furthermore, the Jingbuku parking lot in Dapu is also available, bringing the total to 8 parking lots.
Three makeshift car and motorcycle parking lots and accessible parking lots have also been created, providing 3,674 car parking spaces and 1,653 motorcycle parking spaces. Also, there is a shuttle bus stop inside every parking lot, hence visitors are advised to make use of outside parking lots and the free shuttle service to reach the flower sea exhibition area.
Director-General Yeh emphasized that since the 2 main arteries leading in and out of Xinshe Community are Provincial Highway No. 3 and Dongshan Rd., and the community roads consist of mostly tight, narrow two lane-two way streets, in order to ensure smooth traffic flow during the event, visitors driving to the exhibition areas must comply with flower sea signs and the instructions of the traffic controllers to reach the parking lots. Traffic control will be implemented at the surrounding roads from November 9 (Saturday) to December 1 (Sunday) during 08:00-18:00. Part of the roads will only be open to shuttle buses and city buses, so the public is advised to make use of public transport to reach the flower sea exhibition areas in order to make sure they can enjoy a relaxed flower viewing experience.
