Taichung tourism makes a strong presence in Thailand! From September 12 to 14, the Taichung City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau participated in the Taiwan Travel Fair organized by the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications at Emsphere in Bangkok, promoting Taichung’s tourism highlights. Two well-known performing groups took the stage in succession, generating an enthusiastic response from the audience. Following the event, Taichung’s delegation proceeded to Chiang Mai to join a tourism promotion meeting, adopting a dual approach of B2C direct marketing and B2B business networking. These efforts further expanded Taichung’s presence in the Thai tourism market, showcasing the city’s diverse travel appeal.
Director Chen Mei-xiu of the Tourism and Travel Bureau noted that the number of Thai visitors to Taiwan has steadily increased year by year in the post-pandemic era, making Thailand one of the key markets for Taiwan’s tourism. This year’s Taiwan Travel Fair was held at Emsphere, Bangkok’s new landmark shopping mall. Throughout the three-day fair, it attracted large numbers of young people and family travelers, allowing Taichung’s tourism to take root in the daily lives of local residents and effectively enhance its international visibility.
Director Chen emphasized that Taichung offers a diverse range of attractions encompassing “mountains, sea, townships, and cityscapes.” These include the natural landscapes of Dakeng and Guguan, as well as cultural and creative landmarks such as the National Taichung Theater and Shen Ji New Village. Complemented by Michelin-starred cuisine, bustling night markets, and exquisite specialty souvenirs, Taichung fully demonstrates its unique charm as a premier destination for international travelers. This year’s newly opened Taichung Aquarium further connects visitors with coastal attractions such as Wuqi Fisherman’s Wharf, Mitsui Outlet Park Taichung Port, Gaomei Wetlands, and the Da'an Gang Mazu Cultural Park—making Taichung well worth an extended stay for in-depth exploration.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau further noted that Thai heartthrob Alek Teeradetch, this year’s Tourism Ambassador for Taiwan, together with the popular band No One Else, delivered back-to-back performances over two consecutive days at the travel fair. Their appearances successfully drew large crowds, energized the atmosphere, and allowed Taichung’s tourism highlights to be seen by an even wider audience.
Director Chen further explained that the tourism promotion meeting held in Chiang Mai on the 16th drew the participation of around 60 local travel agencies, along with major airlines such as China Airlines, EVA Air, and STARLUX Airlines. The event highlighted Taichung’s diverse tourism resources and annual events, while also facilitating direct exchanges with industry representatives. Key promotions focused on scenic and culinary tours, seasonal activities, and cultural experiences. The lively discussions and strong interest from industry representatives underscored Taichung’s powerful appeal in the Thai market.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau remarked that Thai travelers favor travel modes that combine natural scenery, cultural experiences, and culinary delights—an ideal match with Taichung’s distinctive character. Looking ahead, the bureau will continue to deepen Taichung’s presence the Southeast Asian market, strengthen Taichung’s tourism brand image, and attract more visitors from Thailand and abroad. These efforts aim to drive sustained growth in the tourism industry while further enhancing Taichung’s visibility in the global travel market.
