Take a different metro exploration trip during the Children’s Day long weekend! This year, Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation is launching the OPEN for the first time! Children’s Day parent child visit event for the first time this year for Children’s Day, allowing families to register individually so that busy parents can accompany their children to explore the core of metro back end operations and experience how the metro runs through a mix of learning and fun. The event will be held on April 3, with one session in the morning and one session in the afternoon. Each session is limited to 60 participants. Eligible participants are elementary school students and their parents. Online registration opens at 9:00 a.m. on March 9 and will close when capacity is reached.
Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation stated that the Beitun Depot tour, led by professional guides and providing in depth introductions to the operating principles of the metro system, has long been a popular itinerary for parent child groups, schools, and government agencies. A total of 154 sessions were held last year, attracting more than 5,600 participants. In the past, registration was mainly for weekday groups. Many parents have requested additional holiday sessions and individual registration, so the event is being held on the first day of the Children’s Day long weekend in response to families’ expectations, giving more children the opportunity to experience metro operations behind the scenes.
This event, "OPEN! Children’s Day” event will depart from Songzhu Station. After staff introduce station facilities, riding safety, and MRT etiquette, participants will take the train to Beitun Main Station and visit the Operations Control Center, known as the “metro brain,” to learn how the fully automated driverless system operates with precision. Participants will then board a 1:1 scale MRT car model to gain a deeper understanding of train safety design and equipment functions. At the end of the event, children will also receive an exclusive commemorative certificate, creating a fulfilling and unforgettable Children’s Day memory.
Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation reminded the public that registration for this parent child visit event will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. on March 9 to 5:00 p.m. on March 13.
