The Family Education Center of Taichung City will grandly host the "Hello, Emotions!" celebration for the International Day of Families at Taichung Central Park on May 30. In a creative twist, the letters of "TAICHUNG" will be transformed into eight adorable emotion monsters. A stylish outdoor tea picnic will be brought onto the lawn and paired with exclusive themed board games and immersive challenge activities to create the most soothing emotional carnival in Taiwan. In addition, the Center has taken the initiative to connect with various city departments to launch the expanded "2026 Happy Taichung Family Month". Story theater performances and growth group courses will also be offered, making this a rich program not to be missed.

Woei-Min Chiang, Director of the Education Bureau of Taichung City Government, stated that the United Nations designated May 15 as the International Day of Families in order to encourage global attention to family issues. To further deepen family education, this year’s "Hello, Emotions!" celebration places emotional connection at its core and incorporates psychological theories of emotion to creatively design a set of emotion themed characters. At the event, parents and children will be guided through such featured activities as "emotion themed board games", "parent child co creation activities", and "parent child outdoor tea picnics" to learn how to recognize, express, and accept each other’s emotions, turning abstract care into concrete acts of support, so that families can stay connected and love can grow without limits.

The Family Education Center noted that, in addition to a rich lineup of stage performances and raffle draws, the "Hello, Emotions!" celebration will also feature a wide variety of interactive challenge zones. Using "TAICHUNG" as the design concept, the event will introduce eight character mascots representing the basic emotions of trust, anticipation, anxiety, anger, and others, allowing parents and children to naturally learn emotional management and communication skills through play.

In addition, throughout May, "2026 Happy Taichung Family Month" will integrate parent child reading activities at libraries under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, safety promotion by the Police Department, and road running events organized by the Sports Bureau, turning Taichung into a joyful playground for families. There will also be many other exciting series activities, including a pop up emotional storytelling theater, "Happy Play Island", presented in collaboration with Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Taichung; a growth group course on calm parenting titled "Emotional Stability and SEL Skills for Adolescents", taught by lecturer Szu-Yi Wu; the hands on activity "Parent Child Co Learning: Turning Old Items into New Treasures with a Massage Tassel Stick"; and an online parent education lecture, "Looking Back and Looking Ahead in Family Life: Growing Together with Our Children", delivered by Pao-Yuan Huang, Vice President of National Taichung University of Education.

The Family Education Center of Taichung City explained that this year’s programs are expected to be especially exciting, and registration details will be announced soon.
