Taichung Metro is joining hands with the well-known VTuber brand Meridian Project to launch the summer limited event Meridian Metro Companion 2.0: Hearts in Motion, which will officially begin on July 1. On June 30, Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation announced the second wave of highlights for the event. In addition to fully transforming seven themed stations, the event will also feature exclusive station announcements, themed arrival music, large-scale visual check-in walls, life-size character standees, and a wrapped train. By combining sound, visuals, and spatial design, the event will create an immersive experience and invite fans from across Taiwan to embark on this summer’s trendiest cross-dimensional metro journey.
Taichung Metro stated that the event’s initial highlights, including the seven-station color stamp activity and limited-edition collaborative merchandise, had already sparked enthusiastic discussion among fans. This time, even more surprises are being introduced. This time, even more surprises are being introduced. During the event period, the seven themed stations will play exclusive VTuber station announcements at 9, 37, and 59 minutes past every hour. The arrival music will also be replaced with melodies themed around Meridian Project, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of traveling with virtual idols from the moment they begin waiting on the platform.
In addition, the visual decorations at each themed station have been fully upgraded. At Songzhu Station, large wall decals, window decals, and stair decals will be installed. At Taichung City Hall Station, a large themed wall graphic will be created on the cross-station bridge, while the public artwork Subsurface Soundscape will play the Meridian Project theme song throughout the day. All seven themed stations will also feature collaborative platform screen door decals and life-size character standees, allowing fans to take photos with their favorite VTuber characters up close and create their own summer memories.
Taichung Metro also pointed out that the Meridian Metro Companion Wrapped Train will begin service on July 1 as well. The interior of the train has been completely redesigned with the collaborative theme, including horizontal banners, vertical posters, chibi-style seat decals, and window decals. The train is filled with elements of Meridian Project’s virtual talents and feels like a moving fan support carriage, giving fans delightful surprises throughout their ride.
Lai-Shun Chu, President of Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation, stated that this collaboration with Meridian Project is not merely a joint promotional campaign, but an effort to transform metro space into a cross-dimensional summer carnival. Through an integrated design of sound, visuals, and spatial atmosphere, the company hopes to offer passengers a refreshing riding experience while also attracting more young people and VTuber enthusiasts to visit Taichung, ride the metro, and discover the new charm created by the fusion of the city and popular culture.
Taichung Metro added that the Meridian Metro Companion 2.0: Hearts in Motion event will continue through September 30, with a series of collaborative activities taking place at Beitun Main Station, Songzhu Station, Wenxin Chongde Station, Wenxin Zhongqing Station, Taichung City Hall Station, Wenxin Forest Park Station, and HSR Taichung Station.
