Family TABLE Summit of Young Leaders, Taichung, Shares the World From 60 Local & Int’l Students’ Experiences

12 international students from 10 nations, including the U.S., Italy, Indonesia and Congo, joined with 48 students from Junior&Senior high school of central Taiwan for 2018 Family TABLE Summit of Young Leaders, Taichung, at Taichung 1st Senior High School, July 8-10, discussing global topics, holding round-table conference, and exploring Taichung with light tours. By sharing cultures over dining table, young people exchange points of view and learn from one another, mentioned Deputy Mayor Zhang Guang-yao on the opening ceremony, “There is something to take home with for everyone.”

Deputy Mayor Zhang Guang-yao is present on the opening ceremony today, accompanied by Zhang Kun-chi, the Secretary-general of Happy Home Alliance in Taiwan, Principal Chen Mu-zhu of Taichung 1st Senior High School (TFSH), Chairman Zhang Guang-xiong of TCFSH Education Foundation, Professor Lin Cai-xiou of National Taichung University of Education (NTCU) and Xu Chun-mei, the Deputy Director of Taichung Department of Education. As a gift, a “dining table culture” declaration of different countries is given to Deputy Mayor Zhang from the int’l students, representing a gesture expecting that the concept can be promoted widely for a future of harmony and happiness. The five topics of T.A.B.L.E are: Talk for Togetherness, Accept for Affirmation, Build for Blessing, Listen for Love, and Enjoy for Example.

Deputy Mayor Zhang expressed appreciation to TFSH and Happy Home Alliance in Taiwan for organizing the Summit, allowing young people from the world to exchange their culture through dining table culture, and prevent conflict from culture difference. An English speaking discussion for the students to talk and gain experiences through easy conversation.

World citizen concept is a critical element when cultivating global professionals, mentioned TFSH Principal Chen Mu-zhu. To practice, it can start from international affairs, important issues discussion, and actively express one’s own idea. The activity talked about happiness through ink painting, literatures, and world coffee house. Students from other countries exchange their own experiences on the topics. The agenda included also a tour to Taichung Park, the iconic spot of Taichung.


As per Education Bureau, the 3-day TABLE Summit of Young Leaders during 7/8-7/10 is joined by 12 international students from 10 nations, including the U.S., Italy, Indonesia, Congo and Togo. Today more than 30 students from Junior & Senior high school of central Taiwan entered the discussion to talk about global topics, hold round-table conference, and five topics of dining table culture. Finally, an English light tour in Taichung demonstrated local features and the beauty of Taichung.
