Mayor Lin Live Broadcast MRT Station with City-Ride Experiences

Trial run for Taichung MRT Green Line will be online this year and expected to be officially open in 2020. The vehicle will carry daily commuters and visitors around Taichung by then. This (10) morning Mayor Lin Chia-lung took a tour in G12 Station “live” broadcasted on Facebook, showing the first hand information about the new station from common area, car, seat design, LED arrival display and upward bendable hangers. The multiple riding experiences offer friendly user spaces, city view, and an era of upgraded transportation.

Accompanied by Transportation Bureau Director Wang Yi-chuan, Mayor Lin visited G12 station presented by Hsu Zong-xian, the Deputy Chief of System wide Electrical & Mechanical Project Office of DORTS. From the station area to inside of car, the gates, the design of the train body as well as the features of Green Line.

G12 Station, a future hot spot for shopping and relaxing, is surround by 3 parks and one just opened Wenxin Showtime Cinema. Taichung MRT accepts EZ Card, iPass, i-cash, HappyCash and Flora Expo Card, says Mayor Lin.

With each sector consists of two cars, Taichung MRT Green Line is composed of 18 sectors to accommodate 536 passengers each, says Mayor Lin. At 75 km/h, elevated railway, the unique cityscapes allows passengers to see the city from a brand new angle, offering different experiences.

MRT Green Line complies with the idea of green building, accentuates on lightweight, simplicity, see-through, and enhances on breathable, energy saving, cool effect. says Director of Transportation and Communications. At 79% completion, it is currently undergoing system integration tests such as traffic control center, communication equipment, etc. Going faster than original schedule, the smooth execution expects to be online in 2020.

The user-based Green Line cars are maximized with green seats to echo the Ecology theme. Pink priority seats, mobile hangers to avoid collision, LED station arrival display to remind passengers of their location, says the Deputy Chief of System wide Electrical & Mechanical Project Office.

The connected flame-resistant cars allow passengers to move about safely with comfort. Unmanned pilot is supervised through CCTV and controlled under remote system. Hidden cab switches to manual when situation calls for.

People access the views in each car, while hidden cab separated from the passengers with belts when necessary, says Mayor Lin. Taichung MRT designed based on local landscapes to enhance the uniqueness. Not only to commute, MRT also provides a method to actually experience Taichung people’s life.
