Taichung Bus Station of Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation has completed its phased tasks since its operation in 2016. To continue providing the public with passenger transportation services on the National Highway Buses, The Bureau of Transportation of the Taichung City Government assisted the national highway transportation operators in building their highway bus station at the Gancheng parking lot of United Highway Bus Company Ltd. Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation, United Highway Bus, and Taichung Bus will set up a temporary business station for National Highway Bus services near Taichung Station until the completion of the new bus terminal. The temporary station will open on December 1, providing passengers with ticket purchase, waiting, and boarding services. Chao-Fu Yeh, the Transportation Bureau director, indicated that Taichung Bus Station of Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation Company Ltd. leased the land Taiwan Railways Administration, and self-built the temporary business station for National Highway Buses. Recently, Taichung Bus Station must handle the demolition due to the expiration of the land lease and other factors. Even though the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is in charge of National Highway Buses, However, the Transportation Bureau would still like to ensure a good waiting environment is provided for people taking the National Highway Buses to maintain the transfer function of Taichung Station. Also, considering the smooth traffic around the station, the Transportation Bureau still actively assists the national highway transportation operators in finding another location near the station to set up a temporary business station for National Highway Buses. In addition, the Transport Bureau continues to handle the construction of the Shuinan Transit Center and Great Taichung Bus Station, and discuss the follow-up route configuration with the central and national highway transportation operators. The completion of the highway bus station will provide more convenient and comfortable public transport space. According to Director Yeh, United Highway Bus Company Ltd. agreed to build their highway bus station at the Gancheng parking lot, which they expect to complete in the first half of next year after coordinating with the national highway passenger transport operators. At that time, Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation, United Highway Bus, and Taichung Bus will all operate at the new highway bus station after its completion. In the meanwhile, some bus routes are adjusted to strengthen the connection between the transfer station and Taichung Station. The Transportation Bureau stated that before the completion of the highway bus station built by transport operators, they successfully coordinated with various passenger transport operators to set up a temporary station near Taichung Station in order to provide a suitable waiting environment for the people taking the National Highway Buses. United Highway Bus and Taichung Bus plan to relocate the bus stop to stores behind Taichung Station (Dazhi North Road). Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation will be next to the stores of the city bus Gancheng Station (No. 27-2, Section 1, Shuangshi Road). Moreover, the Transportation Bureau will also cooperate to adjust relevant national highway passenger drop-off stations. All adjustment and cooperation measures have been taken effect simultaneously from December 1 this year. The traffic flow around Taichung Station has been relieved to maintain the convenience of public transfer between National Highway Buses and Taiwan Railway through the National Highway Bus routes diversion. The Transportation Bureau added that the Taichung Bus Station of Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation is now closed, and relevant signs and indicators in the Taichung Bus Station and Taichung Station have been updated accordingly. From December 1, if people are taking the United Highway Bus and Highway Lines of Taichung Bus, they can transfer to the National Highway Buses at the Dazhi North Road side of Taichung Station, Taiwan Railway. People who want to take the Kuo-Kuang Motor Transportation can take buses 5, 12, 25, 35, 50, 58, 75, 249, and 900 at the Taichung Transit Center. Or take bus No. 20, 52, 56, 288, or 289 from "Taichung Station (Dazhi North Road)" to Gancheng Station. (11/29*10) * Transportation Bureau
