Created in 1985, the World Association of the Major Metropolises (Metropolis) currently represents the authorities of 150 great cities and metropolitan areas with a population of at least 1 million inhabitants in Africa, the Americas & the Caribbean, Asia & the Pacific, and Europe. Metropolis also manages the metropolitan section of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). It is a global network of major cities and metropolitan areas to serve as the hub and platform for metropolises to connect, share experiences, and mobilize on a wide range of local and global issues, in addition to being the focal point of worldwide experience and expertise on metropolitan governance. Metropolis is one of the important global networks which Taichung City Government has been getting involved actively.
