In order to encourage the general public to ride the bikes as the transportation vehicles to finish「the first and last mile」while taking the public transportation vehicles, Taichung City Government is facilitating「Cycling 369」project. Today（18th）the 300th iBike site was started the rental service and this has made the project achieve goal beforehand. Mayor Chia-lung Lin announced, the next step is to roll out the「iBike 600」project to double the iBike sites, then the cycling paths around the city will extend to 1000 kilometers in total. Cycling will be even more popular.

Mayor Chia-lung Lin and Director of Transportation Bureau Yi-chuan Wang today (18th ) have started the 300th iBike site as「Tanzi train station」, located aside to Tanzi train station. The Chief of Tanzi District Jun-hsin Liu, Legislator Tzu-yong Hung, Councilor Ya-min Chang and Jin-lung Hsiao were there to join in the event. Also, Mayor Lin rode iBike to inspect the Tanxin parking lot nearby. As the City Government has received the subsidy of Forward-Looking project from the central government so there will be a constructed parking tower with 3 stories above the ground and one story underground in the future to provide 200 parking spaces for cars and 100 parking spaces for motorcycles to relieve the growing demands for parking in the Tanzi area.

Mayor Lin announced「Cycling 369」project has achieved goal beforehand so the next step will be「iBike 600」project promoted by the City Government. The objective of the project will double the iBike sites to make Taichung iBike sites increasing to 600 by 2022. And the Cycling paths to extend to 1000 kilometers to make the great Taichung Mr. B&B transportation complex system (Metro, Railway, Bus, Bike ) even more completed. The newly added stations in the future will be set after collecting the feedbacks and opinions of the citizens to finalize the most expected 100 stations in the citizens’ mind.

Regarding the safety of cycling on the road, Mayor Lin mentioned, the City Government will promote the first initiative of the third party liability insurance and accident insurance for iBike riders domestically next year to enhance the safety protection net of iBike riding.

Besides, Mayor Lin and the others rode iBike from Tanzi train station to the Tanxin parking lot in the neighborhood to inspect the central Forward-Looking project subsidized「Tanxin parking tower building project」. Director Wang of Transportation Bureau pointed out, after Taichung railway track elevation connecting to Tanxin Road and Zhungshan Road, the parking demands around the Tanzi train station has increased dramatically. Since the City Government has successfully fought for NT$51 million of subsidy from the central Forward-Looking project in addition to the funds collected by the City Government to transform the Tanxin parking lot to parking tower with total budget of NT$160 million. In the future, it will become the garden like parking tower with 3 stories above the ground and one story underground in the future to provide 200 parking spaces for cars and 100 parking spaces for motorcycles to relieve the pressure of parking in Tanzi area effectively.

Director Wang addressed, Tanxin parking lot will be based on the concept of「symbiosis with the nature」to build the green architecture with water and green natural cycle. The window open rate of the outer wall of the tower will be 40% and the green powered air conditioning with qualified energy saving efficiency will be applied. The power saving LED equipment and sunlight will be applied for lighting to minimize the artificial lights and turn the old image of sultriness in the iron sheet parking tower.

Mayor Lin said, Tanzi District is the key area of Fengyuan sub-city center in the project of 「great Taichung 123」. In addition to the railway track elevation and Tai 74 freeway, the Fengtan section of National highway No.4 extending toward south and connecting to Tai 74 line has started to complete the circular highway network of the great Taichung for one hour of daily life circle.

Mayor Lin has appreciated Legislator Tzu-yong Hung for assisting the City Government to fight for the consent of the Transportation Committee, Legislative Yuan and local Councilors Long-jer Hsiao, Ya-min Chang and Chao-guao Lai for fully supporting to enhance the living functions of the residents in the mountain area.

The officer of Transportation Bureau said, the City Government has aggressively built up many green transportation vehicles and proposed to the central Forward-Looking project to have the subsidy for 8 projects of parking tower buildings to resolve the local parking issues. This is the highest ranking for proposals raised among all cities. All the 8 projects have been approved by Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Transportation and Communications with the central subsidy of NT$1.02 billion.「Tanxin parking tower building project」has been under the process of engineering project management so it will be started by the end of next year and completed by 2021.

In order to celebrate for achieving Taichung iBike 300 sites, form now on until 30th September, the activity of「All 300 sites you can ride by iBike」initiated by Transportation Bureau will be rolled out. When people ride iBike for 10 times, one time of lucky draw will be granted; 20 times of rides will be granted for 2 times of lucky draws, the more you ride, the higher win-rate you would get.
