The school handball and football sport teams have left for the competitions by age groups in Europe and the tchoukball teams have left for Malaysia to compete with many other teams from different countries and won 10 champions back to Taichung. Taichung City Government today (28) conducted the award event for the excellent young athletes and their coaches with Mayor Chia-lung Lin to greet on site; they are the Proud of Taichung and expected to upgrade themselves continuously to win more victories for Taiwan in the future.

Today, Mayor Lin was accompanied by the Director of Education Bureau, Fu-yuan Peng to attend the winner celebration event for the school teams of Taichung participating in international competitions. Mayor Lin recognized the candidates for attending the overseas competitions during the summer vacation and won the victories back with the award medals. The outstanding achievements won the recognitions of people so there were many principals of the schools and the athletes gathering together with joys in the meeting.

Mayor Lin said, the City Government do value the sport education so there are exclusive team and budget for it in addition to the Sport Bureau under the City Government. We’ve dedicated to facilitate the civil sport and professional items for competitions; however, sport development should start from the children so we’d like to build Taichung as a sport city through conducting sport games and competitions and building 10 civil sport centers, all kinds of sport park, construction and renovation of sport equipment in schools to make the education and sport in Taichung city will strongly connected.

Also, Mayor Lin mentioned, Taichung planned to conduct the East Asian Youth Games of next year but it’s canceled due to the interference of China; the City Government will proceed the appeal and gain support from the Sports Administration, Ministry of Education to conduct the international youth games next year to allow the young athletes to have a stage for them to get exposures.

The officer of Education Bureau said, we won the champions of both the men’s junior groups of 17 years old and 13 years old in one of the competitions attended during this summer vacation by the teams from Longjing Junior High School and Longjing Elementary School,「Bulgaria．Atlant Cup international handball leagueby age groups」, in the same game, we won another champion of laurel in the men’s junior group of 15 years old with the cross-school team. Dajia Junior High School sent a team to attend the competition of 「Denmark • Dronninglund Cup of international handball league by age groups」and won the Gold medal in the men’s junior group of 14 years old.

And the school team of Lishin Junior High School won two champions from the men’s junior team of 14 and 12 age group in「Hungary．Veszprém Cell Cup international handball league by age groups」; Dashin Elementary School girl’s handball team won the Gold medal of 12 age group in「Sweden．Gothenburg international handball league by age groups」.

The teams from Guoan Elementary School and Liming Elementary School attended the 「Denmark．Vildbjerg Cup international football league by age groups」and won the champions of man’s junior 13 age group and woman’s junior 12 age group, respectively. The tchoukball teams of Longfong Elementary School and Szuchen Junior High School won the champions of teenage girl’s 12 and 15 age groups in「5th Asian teenager’s tchoukball league」.

Director of Education Bureau, Fu-Yuan Peng appreciated the principals, teachers and students’ parents of these schools for providing the complete equipment and training by stages. The award celebration meeting was conducted not only to recognize the children for not fearing the frustrations, insistence and courages until the end but also expect the young athletes to surpass themselves and win more excellent achievements.
