Taichung Floral Expo will open on November 3. The “Discovery Hall”, the main venue of the Houli Forest Park, uses green building materials to regenerate plastic bricks and integrates with the existing old trees. Visitors will experience a journey from altitude 0 in the marine outfall to the 3,886-meter-long snow mountain peak of the Dajiaxi Ecological Tour, where they can see the appearance of the mountain in the habitat of Felis bengalensis chinensis, and sneak into the Qijiawan River to swim with the precious national treasure formosan landlocked salmon. There is also a visually stunning theater show, and with the temperature and humidity control in the pavilion, visitors can feel the warmth of the sea and the cold atmosphere of the snow mountain, as if being personally on the scene

The Municipal Education Bureau held a discovery meeting in the Houli Forest Park today to introduce the building features of the Discovery Museum and the exhibition concept inside the venue. Figures including Vice Mayor Lin Yiying, Education Director Peng Fuyuan, Culture Director Wang Zhicheng, Discovery Pavilion curator Liao Peishan, Floral Expo Spokesperson Huang Yihan, and the well-known musician Lin Qiang were all present at the scene.

Vice Mayor Lin said that visitors can feel the difference in temperature when they come in from the entrance of the Discovery Pavilion, because the whole building is made of recycled bricks of green energy building materials. With the concept of hollow bricks, it allows natural wind to circulate inside and outside the museum. The appropriate temperature makes visitors feel very comfortable. The entire pavilion presents an ecological corridor. From the high-altitude wetland at low altitude to the top of the snow-capped mountain at 3,886 meters above sea level, visitors can experience the wonders of nature, especially the conservation of rare animals such as Felis bengalensis chinensis and formosan landlocked salmon. It can be presented through the brilliant design of the exhibition hall, combined with the wisdom of science and technology, and the collection of Baihua humanities and poems. It is worthy of enjoyment.

She also pointed out that the design concept of the Discovery Pavilion was to "see half of the Earth in Taichung." Through the arrangement from low altitude, medium altitude to high altitude, visitors will have different feeling in every step. Each corner is a new experience. It is very suitable for people to walk in with a relaxed mood. Half a earth is in front of you!"

The Education Bureau said that the Discovery Pavilion was built by the green energy building material "Recycled Plastic Tiles". The pavilion retains the existing large trees and is built to the present appearance. It is hollow and transparent, allowing the outdoor intensive greens, fresh air and humid water can be freely shuttled inside and outside the pavilion and integrated with tourists.

The Discovery Pavilion starts with "Water". It uses the Dajia River Basin to guide visitors from the low-altitude Gaomei Wetland to the high-altitude Snow Mountain Forest, and tells stories of different altitudes through eight units. In addition to being co-ordinated by Calcutt International Co., Ltd., the pavilion also invited Zhang Guangmin, former CEO of Taiwan Creative Design Center, as a consultant, Lin Qiang to design the pavilion music, and also gathered Taiwan's new generation design team for art display and multimedia interaction, reinterpreting the ecological landscape of Dajiaxi, the river of mothers in Taichung.

The Education Bureau pointed out that the entrance image continues the characteristics of the green building of the Discovery Pavilion that uses recycled environmentally-friendly materials. the font of the design unit name, guiding the audience into the exhibition area, and matching the poetry words with wartmth and emotion, indicating that the design concept of the area is "seeing half of the earth in Taichung". The contents include retaining the original trees in the pavilion, reproducing the Felis bengalensis chinensis Lishan ecology, the middle-altitude conservation animals, or formosan landlocked salmon.

The pavilion consists of eight units. The first unit is the "River and Sea Junction" at an altitude of 0 to 100 meters. It presents the real wetland ecology of the Dajiaxi Estuary. The planting includes hygrophila pogonocalyx hayata, bolboschoenus planiculmis, etc. With the natural sunlight of the building, visitors can feel the rich vitality at the junction of the river and sea in the Taimei high-altitude wetland. The ceiling is suspended with a translucent, rainbow-shiny material to form a large rainbow luster, which reproduces the sparkling water under the sun in the wetland in a magical way.

Passing through the natural ecological Gaomei Wetland, visitors will enter the second unit “Shuisheng Chuanliu” with an altitude of 100 to 500 meters, presents a low-altitude human life scene.“Noise Coffee Art” creates "Sound Water Forest" through water and glass., which shows the intricate and continuous flow of water on the ground and the underground channels, creating a sound and light effect that is interwoven with light and water. Turning a corner, the water flows to the plains, farmland and hills. The craftsman Fan Chengzong uses the straw roof and the rice paving showcase. The warm colors are like the earth embracing the people's feelings. The rice cabinet displays the water and the model, the vocal story, reinterpreting the agricultural land image Taichung.

From the low altitude, slowly move towards the "Lishan felis bengalensis chinensis" at an altitude of 500 to 1000m in the third unit. In addition to retaining the original three large trees (casuarina, big leafhopper and mango tree), the landscape designer Pan Yiru made the planning to present the appearance of the Lihu inhabited environment. In addition to let visitors know the crisis facing felis bengalensis chinensis, but also look forward to arousing public awareness of conservation. Just as the felis bengalensis chinensisis a symbol of ecology that maintains the life of all the mountain habitats; Taichung is also the symbol and key of Taiwan's ecology.

Then, starting from the key species felis bengalensis chinensis in the low-altitude Lishan area, the fourth unit of the “ecological corridor” with an altitude of 1000 to 1500 m is extended to show the rich animal ecological group in the middle altitude, allowing the concept of ecological conservation to expand outwards. In this area, In the concept of peaceful coexistence between humans and ecological animals, artist Cai Jiexin uses environmentally friendly pulp sculptures to present Taiwan's rich ecological species and native flower species. The audience shuttles through the promenade, and get familiar with endemic species in Taiwan, which surround the audience in colorful and lovely gestures.

Climbing over the middle and high altitudes, visitors reach the fifth unit of the high altitude of 1500 to 3500 m of "stream legacy", which is the upper reach of Dajiaxi. Through the screen projection, it guides visitors to sneak into the seven Bay Creek and see the pass of formosan landlocked salmon and staying in the past as a land-sealed squid. It reproduces the positive human behavior of "returning farmland to the forest, returning the dam to the river", which maximizes the appeal of the previous conservation of felis bengalensis chinensis. It lets visitors feel the preciousness and hope of respecting life and reborn through the successful restoration of formosan landlocked salmon.

Then visitors will enter the sixth unit, "towering forest", which is 1500 to 3500m above sea level. The area is built in a low-temperature control manner to create a forest atmosphere in the high fir forest. What enters the eyes of visitor is the towering forest fir. The audience can walk on the pine needles and walk through the woods to experience the beauty of the snowy mountain forest. The specimens are accompanied by photographs showing alpine plants, birds and humanities and forestry. It leads the tourists to the mountains and climb to the peak of the snow-capped mountains.

Then visitors enter the seventh unit "New Vision". The pavilion made a digital interactive device between the wall and the ground, impressing visitors with visual sense. With the concept of "one sand, one world, one flower and one paradise", it chooses the organic image of Taiwan's original plants, and lead tourists to view the rich diversity of ecology, biology and life from low altitude to high altitude in Taichung. The digital virtual technique alternates the entity and the virtual body to increase the richness of the picture. Visitors can also see Taiwan's diverse uniqueness through the richness of Daxi River Basin from altitude 0 to 3,886m in Taichung.

Finally, the eighth unit is “Hundred-poem Flower Square”, which is a compound space for rest and activities. Starting from the ecology of Gaomei Wetland, it undertakes the conservation of Lishan in the middle altitude and turns to the beauty of the mountains in the cold forest. As the last stop of the Discovery Pavilion, the feelings of all the way are created in the poems themed on flowers by one hundred poets, expressing our feelings, gratitude and cherish to the land in the poem.
