To greet the upcoming Christmas, Taichung City Government has placed the Christmas trees in water by Liuchuan and Huludun drainage in Fengyuan to make the residents in downtown and mountain area to feel the most romantic Christmas atmosphere at the same time. Tonight, Mayor Chia-lung Lin firstly left for Liuchuan to light up the beautiful Christmas tree in water and welcome by a lot of citizens to request for the group photo taking or signature. Mayor Lin said, to light the Christmas tree up in Liuchuan is to bring the happiness of the people in Taichung. After the environmental construction project of Luchuan and Liuchuan completed, the old town has been reborn and the people have come and brought many business opportunities. The most different Taichung Christmas tree in water all over around Taiwan has come to meet everyone again, the City Government has not only set up the Christmas tree in water with the height of 10 meters in Liuchuan, but also expanded the coverage to set another one in Fengyuan Huludun drainage to all the citizens living in the downtown and mountain area to celebrate Christmas together. Before lighting the tree up in Liuchuan, Mayor Lin has conducted the book signing event on the same place with many people queuing to ask for Mayor Lin to sign or have a group photo with them. The amazing queuing line starting from the central tree lighting-up area to the end of Mingquan Road. Some passionate citizens sent the safe charm and bottled water to Mayor Lin for cheering him up; some advocators have even wept and regretted for him for Mayor Lin is leaving his office so Mayor Lin gave them hugs to comfort them under a warm and moved atmosphere.

Tonight, the creative Christmas tree lighting up ceremony in Liuchuan was initiated by Mayor Lin, Deputy Secretary-General Kun-ming Kuo, Director of Water Resources Bureau Ting-chang Chou, Central District Chief Jih-ming Huang and Councilor Jaw-kuao Chiang etc. together to put the stands of Taiwan cherry, flaming plant, lily, dancing lady orchid and gladiolus etc. the Taichung featured flowers on stage to light up the colorful lanterns on the Christmas tree. The audience on site all marveled and said,「It’s so beautiful！」

Mayor Lin said, at the moment of the upcoming anticipated Christmas holiday, to light up the tree in Liuchuan is lighting up the happiness of the people in Taichung; in particular, the City Government has placed the only one Christmas tree in water of Taiwan in Liuchuan so he’d like to bless everyone Merry Christmas during this thanksgiving and blessing season. In addition, he’d like to take this opportunity to thank the whole City Government team for their efforts in the past 4 years to make Taichung even more beautiful.

Mayor Lin also said, old downtown was the originated place of Taichung city, After the environmental construction project of Luchuan and Liuchuan completed, the old town has been reborn and the people have come and brought many business opportunities. The improvement of the whole river basin of Luchuan and Liuchuan will continue in the future. Information Bureau said, the new landmark of blue waterside by Liuchuan has reinvigorated the old town with new energy. Last year, the City Government has firstly built the very first Christmas tree in water of Taiwan in Liuchuan and won a lot of recognitions so it’s the most popular checking spot of Christmas in Taiwan. This year, Liuchuan Christmas tree is designed by ZAMAMA, the art company rooted in the old town, as usual to combine the image of Flora Expo to place a Christmas tree with 10 meters of height in the river canal, the lights used for the tree have applied the colors of the city flower of Taichung, Taiwan cherry, and flaming plant, lily, dancing lady orchid and gladiolus etc. and they are also the important flowers exported from Taichung. Meanwhile, it’s arrayed with the flower lantern by layers in order to generate the full blossom and colorful effects of lighting.

The creative Liuchuan Christmas tree is placed in response to the plan of Water Resources Bureau 「creative art light view exhibition」; the curation of this year is focused on「environmental art」by applying the objectives, views and materials from the nature environment. Many young artists were invited to join in the exhibition to provide their artworks, including「Shadow of the sun」, 「Lily river」, 「Highland red-bellied swallowtail butterfly」etc. to guide the people to appreciate the green views of watersides from different angles.

The officer of Information Bureau pointed out, in addition to Liuchuan, there’s a 9-meter-of Christmas tree in water made of the cross territories innovative materials and placed in Fengyuan Huludun drainage for the first time to deliver the idea of「people are the beginning of everything」. And the lighting-up ceremony would be held at 7 p.m. in the evening of tomorrow; the events for 2 Christmas trees in water of Taichung, 「River blossom mirroring to Christmas-Liuchuan, Huludun drainage creative Christmas tree」, are arranged to echo to the Liuchuan creative art light view exhibition and Huludun drainage installation arts exhibition with the daily lighting up from 17:00 to 22:00. The exhibition period lasts from December 7th to January 1st of next year.
