Slovak Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei Representative Martin Podstavek and other delegates visited Taichung City Government today (23rd), and the entourage was welcomed by Deputy Mayor Bruce Linghu on behalf of Mayor Shiow-yen Lu. According to Representative Martin Podstavek, Taichung is a charismatic metropolis and the second largest city in Taiwan, and it is also steeped in history, therefore he plans to promote cultural activities in Taichung this year, including boys’ choir from the capital of Slovakia, children’s literature illustration exhibition, and painting exhibition. According to Deputy Mayor Linghu, the city government welcomes international cultural exchange, and the aim is to strengthen future economic and trade collaborations based on successful cultural cooperation.
Slovak Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei Representative Martin Podstavek was invited by the City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau to attend the 100 Teachers lecture, where he presented a speech entitled Central Europe and Slovakia – Millennial Development in Democracy. Today, he and his wife Chen Liang Podstavek, CEO of Tai Jiang Cultural Co., Ltd. Sung-ming Kao, and other guests visited Taichung City Government. They were welcomed by Deputy Mayor Linghu, Cultural Affairs Bureau Deputy Director-general Chun-fu Shih, and Development Bureau Deputy Director-general I-an Li. They discussed topics pertaining to the boys’ choir from the capital of Slovakia and Slovak National Gallery children’s literature illustration exhibition etc.
According to Deputy Mayor Linghu, Slovakia has forged an excellent relationship with Taiwan since 2003, and both countries hold strong ties in economic, trade and culture-related fields. He expressed his gratitude to the delegates for visiting Taichung to engage in in-depth bilateral exchanges in relation to boys’ choir from the capital of Slovakia and children’s literature illustration exhibition and painting exhibition. He also instructed the Education Bureau and Cultural Affairs Bureau to offer their assistance.
He also expressed that Slovakia is an extremely important trading partner of Taiwan due to its strategic location in the heart of Europe, much like Taichung, which is located in central Taiwan. Consequently, he hopes to foster future economic and trade cooperation based on successful cultural collaboration.
