Taichung City Agriculture Bureau assisted Taichung Farmers' Association and Dongshi District Farmers' Association to launch exciting firefly viewing itineraries such as "Appreciate the Aroma of Coffee and Fluorescent Beauty of Fireflies", "Firefly Night Whispers", "Romantic Fireflies at Pears Homeland" starting today (13th) until May 12. According to the Agriculture Bureau, Dongshi offers rich ecological resources and diverse nighttime experiences, so everyone is invited to embark on a light journey to appreciate the touching scene of twinkling fireflies.

Agriculture Bureau Director General Ching-chiang Tsai, Dongshi District Executive Pei-chen Weng, and Seed Improvement and Propagation Station, COA Director Ting-lin Chang all attended the "Romantic Fireflies at Pears Homeland" event organized by Pears Homeland Leisure Agriculture Area. The event will be open to 80 citizens daily on April 13, 14, 20, and 21, offering interesting activities such as bamboo shoots DIY, guided tour, grass head DIY, Mother Nature's dining table, and date with fireflies, etc.

According to the Agriculture Bureau, in addition to flower appreciation, firefly viewing is perfect during April and May. This year, Ruanbikeng Agricultural Leisure Area collaborated with hotels to launch "Firefly Night Whispers – Savoring Coffee in the City and Viewing Fireflies in the Countryside" event. On April 20, 21, 27, and 28, 4 groups of visitors will be able to join activities including coffee tasting, guided tour of Hakka cultural park, soy sauce DIY, Hakka gourmet dinner, and firefly viewing, etc.

Furthermore, Shjialin Coffee Farm unveiled the "Appreciate the Aroma of Coffee and Fluorescent Beauty of Fireflies" event, where 100 people will be invited to enter the farm every day from April 12 to May 12 (closed on Monday and Tuesday) to participate in activities such as "Taking a Stroll in the Forest", "Coffee Tasting", and "Firefly Viewing" accompanied by a docent. Agriculture Bureau urged the visitors to protect the fireflies by obeying the Three-Never Principle: Never capture fireflies; Never use a flashlight (please use red cellophane to cover up the light source if flashlight must be used); Never tread on firefly habitat (there are firefly eggs or larva under the fallen leaves and twigs). It is imperative to protect the fireflies and let them breed successfully in order to ensure the sustainability of this magnificent sight.
