Taichung City Takes Out Personal Injury Insurance to Protect the rights of iBike users
In order to protect Taichung City Public Bicycle (iBike) users, the Transportation Bureau of Taichung City Government has taken out public bicycle personal injury insurance for them, effective from July 1. The citizens may register their national ID card number on iBike official website or kiosks at various rental stations. Those who are killed or incapacitated while riding the iBike are entitled to the highest claim of NT$1 million, and those who are hospitalized may receive NT$1,000 per day medical aid claim.

According to Transportation Bureau Director General Chao-fu Yeh, since personal injury insurance requires the insurant's personal details, therefore YouBike Co., Ltd. has enabled YouBike members to register their national ID card number, birthday, and cell phone number on the company's official website (https://i.youbike.com.tw/home) and the kiosks at various rental stations. Registration is open now and effective from July 1. The simple procedure offers added protection for the public.

Director General Yeh commented that the insurance company's claims procedure will involve accessing the iBike rental record and medical record related to the particular accident. Furthermore, it will also check if the person involved in the accident is the actual registered cardholder, so please make sure that the details registered on the iBike card and the platform belong to the same individual in order to benefit from the insurance coverage.
