According to the Information Bureau of Taichung City Government, Zhongshan 73 AV, Cultural and Arts Space is at Zhongshan Rd., Central Dist. and was built from an old house that was equipped with the composite functions for a movie, arts and cultural presentations, café and dining. It is Taichung’s first arts and cultural space for non-mainstream films. Its official operations by the Taichung Film Development Foundation (TFDF) began since last November and each month, a thematic film festival is planned to independently show selected films from different countries. Now more than 400 sessions were brought to its visitors. Relevant seminars are also organized and now it is an important site of artistic films.

The Director-General of Information Bureau, Wu Huang-Sheng said, fewer cinemas participated in shopping festivals organized by different cities. In this year’s Taichung Shopping Festival, 13 cinemas are invited to take part for more diversity. Added values are created. Cinemas provide more incentives for shoppers and at the same time, they will increase revenues and exposure. They also help Taichung to grow its economy and enable consumers, business operators and the City Government to win at the same time.

Director-General Wu pointed out that 13 participating cinemas in the Festival include Shinkong, Viewshow Cinemas at Mega City, Viewshow Cinemas at Tiger City, Wenhsin ShowTimes, ShowTimes in front of Train Station, Wovie Cinemas, Kbro Cinemas, Times Cinema, Fengyuan in89, Fengyuan International, SRM, Wonderful, and Chin Chin. During the Festival, two movie ticket stubs can redeem a new one of Zhongshan 73 AV, Cultural and Arts Space. Limited tickets up to 500 are available.

The President of TFDF, Lin Ying-Chih said summer programs of Zhongshan 73 AV, Cultural and Arts Space are very exciting. Selected films in July include ten films directed by Hong Sang-soo nicknamed “Asia’s Woody Allen” from South Korea such as Grass, the nominated film at the 2018 Berlin Film Festival and “Hotel by the River” featuring the Best Actor Award winner at the Locarno Film Festival; in August, tributes will be paid to Agnès Varda, the Mother of French New Wave and her earlier works including “La Pointe Courte” and “Cleo From 5 To 7” will be played.
