Other guests including Information Bureau Director General Wu and TFDF CEO Ying-chih Lin also attended the function to promote the event.

According to Director-General Wu, he used to watch at least one film every week, so going to the movies was a routine for him. He not only watched movies at all major cinemas to observe the differences in screening quality but also learned to appreciate the depth and quality of each film. He thanked the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee and TFDF for staging the Golden Horse Classic Film Festival in Taichung for 2 consecutive years, so that film buffs in Taichung can gain further insight into Italian films and admire the classic works of maestros.

Director-General Wu also mentioned that Taichung has held the Taichung International Animation Festival for 5 straight years, while the Classic Film Festival has been elevated to the status of a city film festival to let the citizens appreciate classic masterpieces. In addition to the film festival, the Information Bureau has continued to expand film-related hardware and facilities; the Central Taiwan Film Studio in Wufeng is not only the largest film studio in the country but also boasts the unique wave pool used by Director Ang Lee to film Life of Pi. As a result, Taichung has become a film-friendly city offering exceptional hardware and software qualities, attracting domestic and international film production teams to come to Taichung for filming, thereby progressively transforming Taichung into a filming hub.

Serving the curator of this year's film festival, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee Tien-hsiang Wen commented that the Ingmar Bergman -The Centennial Retrospective film festival hosted together with Taichung City Hall last year was well received by the public. This year, the film festival has adopted the theme of Voyage to Italy, showcasing 38 classic movies by 8 Italian master directors from the 40s to the 60s. In particular, many of the movies are rare copies making their debut in Taiwan. Due to their longstanding history, 7 of the films are screened using 35mm reels, demonstrating their rarity.

CEO Wen expressed thanks to the Information Bureau and TFDF for their assistance in enabling movie fans in south Taiwan to experience the Golden Horse Classic Film Festival.
