In welcoming the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival, the lantern festival - “Shihgang Shihshueike River Colorful Art Festival in Taichung” pioneered in lighting up the lanterns yesterday (7th), where the 9 main thematic lantern areas are based on the theme of “Colorful Water Township – Resplendent Shihgang”. The exhibition period is starting from today until February 28th, 2020, covering Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year Holiday. The exhibition area is located by tourist attractions including Shihshueike Leisure Farm, Lyuliou Square, Dongfeng Bicycle Trail, Lovers Wooden Bridge and Magpie Bridge…etc., while Su-Hsing Liu, the head of Shihgang District invites the general public to join the admiration of lanterns.
The director-general of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Shih-Wei Wu stated that besides the famous Shihgang Dam as the characteristic to Shihgan, there are also natural scenic spots including Dongfeng Bicycle Green Way, Tuniu Hakka Cultural Hall, and the Five Blessings Sacred Tree…etc. The district office planned and utilized Shihgang’s unique scenic sites to create the characteristic thematic lantern area, fully demonstrating Shihgang’s mountain city characteristics, such that other than enjoying the natural ecological sceneries, the public may further savor local Hakka delicacies and experience Hakka sentiment.
The Civil Affairs Bureau indicated that the event is planned according to the characteristics of the venues into 9 main thematic lantern areas, including “Ecological & Magical Christmas Tree”, “Angel Lover’s Dream”, “Energetic Light Corridor”, “Energy Tunnel”, “Starlight Hall”, “Rainbow Wish Waterfall”, “Love Wind Bell”, “Magical Wheat Boulevard”, “Magical Waterwheel” and “Galaxy Life Movement”…etc., offering loads of romance.
Shihgang District Office has organized the lantern-lighting ceremony by the Lovers Bridge yesterday (7th), director-general Wu, director-general Shih-Yi Fang of the Water Resources Bureau, director-general Huai-Chen Peng of the Social Affair Bureau, chairman Chun-Lung Chiang of the Hakka Affairs Council, legislator Chi-Chen Chiang, city councilor Ling-Hsuan Jan and chief engineer Sung-Lieh Liu of the Central Region Water Resources Office, Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs jointly touched the magic ball to announce the official activation of the art festival.
