Dakeng no. 10 trail is in the vicinity of the city and connects to the no. 9 and no. 9-1 trail, forming a circular hiking trail network that is extremely popular among the citizens. However, parts of the boardwalk have become old and damaged, therefore Taichung City Tourism Office commenced restoration in August this year, and the trail is now fully restored and opened to the public. According to the Tourism Office, no. 10 trail measures 1,200m long, featuring verdant scenery along the way. The recreational trail is ideal for the citizens to enjoy a leisurely time.
According to Tourism Office Director-General Lin Hsiao-Chi, Dakeng Scenic Area is also known as the back garden of Taichung City. No. 10 hiking trail offers a commanding view of Greater Taichung’s picturesque scenery, making it an ideal getaway for outings, checking in on social media, taking pictures and exploring the outdoor ecology. A mountain cleanup operation was conducted recently to increase environmental awareness and ensure the sustainability and longevity of the seasonal landscapes at Taichung’s back garden.
According to the Scenic Area Administration Office, no. 10 trail features ecological landscapes such as bamboo forest trail and acania forest trail, as well as wooden gravel steps, native earthen trail, and boardwalk trail. The restoration emphasis lies in reduced design, prolonging longevity, and the principle of restoring old and damaged facilities. These include the restoration of the boardwalk, reduced railing design, and varnish coating aimed at improving the overall safety and service quality of the trail.
Tourism Office commented that visitors to the Dakeng Trail can also visit nearby scenic attractions such as Dakeng Ecological Park, Xindu Ecological Park, and Dakeng Lovers’ Bridge to experience the fun of hot spring, savor mouthwatering taro, and appreciate the beauty of Taichung.
