The 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival features “the Fantastic Lantern Area of Animal Festival” under 12 themes of Dinosaurs in the Jurassic World, Undersea World and Tropical Jungle consisting of 133 sets of geometric animal lanterns that will be exhibited earlier than scheduled. Mayor Lu Shiow-yen today (the 16th) arrived at the site and was amazed on her way to the exhibition which featured not only the 15-meter high dinosaur but also the meerkat in bikini showing a good sense of humor. Visitors from everywhere are all invited to this amazing exhibition.
According to Mayor Lu, “the Festival has both wonderful and exciting presentations during both day and night times” including pre-historic and exotic animals flying in the sky and swimming in the water. They can all be seen at the Houli Horse Farm Park of the Taiwan Lantern Festival which specially feature the 15-meter high giant Brachiosaurus with the wiggling tail, moving mouth and fantastic sound and lighting effects.
Lu said, this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival is very unique and it is jointly held for the first time at the Houli Forest Park and Horse Farm to create “the Lantern Festival in Nature” and to let the public access the exhibitions for photo taking and fun interactions. Each site is the ideal check-in point.
Additionally, this Festival provides a site for the youth to practically participate. Their creativity amazes many others by integrating animal lanterns of cartoon images. Their works can be compared to those of international well-known masters and have been well recognized.
The Bureau of Tourism and Travel pointed out that the Fantastic Animal Festival has been planned with 12 themes including “Challenges in Jurassic World,” “Undersea World,” “Tropical Jungle” and “Iceberg World” combining 133 sets of geometric animal lanterns such as the moving prehistoric dinosaur and lions in masks. Arctic animals lead the discussion of environmental protection issues; the popular meerkat is turned into a sexy belly dancer; and the electric party of jaguars.
Furthermore, during the lantern festival, dynamic lighting performances have been planned at 18:00, 18:30, 19:00, 19:30, 20:00, 20:30, and 21:00 featuring moving animals, 200 stage lighting devices, and dance music with the fantastic nights.
To satisfy the visual enjoyment of visitors, the Cultural Affairs Bureau especially invites the Jumbo Circus from the UK, the winner of the “Award for Best Visual Effects,” bestowed by the British Arts Festivals Association (BAFA) as well as Taiwan’s top performing technology team to jointly perform at the equestrian arena at the Houli Horse Farm at 19:00 every evening during the Festival. You should not miss this exciting Taiwan’s “first” and the global “sole” outdoor high-altitude stunt show.
Accompanied by the Secretary General, Huang Chung-Den, Vice Secretary General, Chen Ju-Chang, and Zhu Kang-Chan, Mayor Lu visited the preparation works at the Houli Horse Farm and gave instructions to the relevant units for the perfect 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival.
