Reported by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC), Taichung now led the world to organize the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and Taiwan Professional Women's Softball League (TPWSL) games. The report quotes the support of Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen for the sports events. The Sports Bureau said under the leadership of Mayor Lu, Taichung relatively has been stable on the COVID-19 pandemic risk, so it could successfully organize baseball and softball events to let the world see Taichung's successful pandemic prevention and control measures and vigor of sports.
The Sports Bureau pointed out that the WBSC especially reports on the full support of Mayor Lu for the sports events that enable professional sports events to be successfully held in Taichung and this indicates the success of pandemic prevention and control in Taichung that inspire other countries now fighting with the pandemic. Additionally, Mayor Lu emphasized that with the organization of the “TPWSL” games, female sports will become more visible and recognized through gender equity in sports.
According to the Sports Bureau, Taichung continuously advises organizers of sports events to implement and promote pandemic prevention and control measures. At present, the opening games of the CPBL and the 2020 TPWSL led the world and were successfully completed.
