Are you ready to "Rock in Taichung?" Due to the pandemic situation, "Rock in Taichung" will be live streamed from 17:00 t0 22:00 on July 17th and 16:00 to 22:00 on July 18th. VIP performing artists include Waa Wei, Cosmospeople and Mixer as well as famous bands from four countries, Japan, Thailand, Korea and Malaysia. It is Taiwan's first streaming live cross-national music concert and fans from all over the global are welcome to join this exciting event online!
The Information Bureau of the Taichung City today (6th) convened the press conference of "2020 Rock in Taichung" featuring the opening performance of MasterBating, one of the bands performing the selected digital music production work of last year's Rock in Taichung followed by local music bands from Taichung including Hercules, Tetrapod, Roaring Atman, Old Slut Distortion presenting the rock music of Taichung!
Director General of the Information Bureau, Huang Guo-Wei, said that due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, many music events were cancelled but music shall still be appreciated by each of us. Thus, this year, the Taichung City Government decided to continuously hold the event and changed it to a live streaming one. It is hoped that through this kind of stage, local rock music can still be promoted in Taichung.
According to Hercules music band, this year marks the 13th Anniversary of Rock in Taichung and the 20th Anniversary of the band. Now a better environment has been created for the development of Taiwan's independent music and this wave of music has attracted more people. The band hoped that with the continuous supports from various fields and this live streaming music concert, its music can be appreciated by more people.
The Information Bureau said that this year's live streaming "Rock in Taichung" concert is a free event and the audience is welcomed to watch in front a screen on their cell phones, tablets or computer. Everyone can get a seat "on the first row of the rock and roll area" even for fans not living in Taiwan. With the power of music, we pray to overcome the pandemic!
Additionally, on the program, 11 domestically well-known singers and music bands are invited including Waa Wei, Cosmospeople, Mixer, Suming, Elephant Gym, Accusefive, No-nonsense Collective, P! SCO, Vast & Hazy, Constant Change, and I Mean Us. There are local bands from Taichung: Hercules, MasterBating, Tetrapod, Roaring Atman, and Old Slut Distortion while international music bands are from Japan, Korea and Malaysia who will record their special performance programs when playing during the live streaming concert. Additionally, the organizers’ two big events, Thai Big Mountain Music Festival and Japanese Fuji Rock Music Festival, are invited to talk about their counter measures to respond to the severe situation of the pandemic.
The Information Bureau pointed out that the live streaming Rock in Taichung music concert will be broadcast from 17:00 to 22:00 on July 17th and from 16:00 to 22:00 on the 18th. Attendees of today's press conference included Director General of the Information Bureau, Huang Guo-Wei, Deputy Director-General, Chen Chia-Chun, and the chief organizer of Rock in Taichung program, Old No, Director General of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chang Ta-chuen, and Secretary General of the Agriculture Bureau, Hsieh Gung-Yao.
