The renovation of the hundred-year old national historical heritage site, Taichung Prefecture Office, started last year and thus, the Environmental Protection Bureau, the Urban Development Bureau and the Housing Development Department have moved out from the Office. In the middle of July this year, the said agencies moved to the original Police Department Building at the intersection of Wenxin Rd. and Dalong Rd. and today (the 4th), the removal of the Taichung Prefecture Building was commenced and the moving ceremony was held to rename the building as "Wenxin Civic Building 2" adjacent to the New Taichung Civic Center to offer more convenient public services.
According to the Urban Development Bureau, before the moving, announcements of relevant information were made on the bulletin board, website and Facebook and letters were sent to institutions, organizations and associations. Guidance information was given at the new address and service staff are there to help to enable citizens to quickly be aware of the locations and routes of various offices. Additionally, at the beginning of the presence, due to factors such as software and hardware testing, telephone lines and the Internet may be interrupted to cause some inconvenience for public services and consultation. Problems will be re solved gradually. The Urban Development Bureau pointed out that the Wenxin Civic Building 2 and New Taichung Civic Center are located at the two sides of Wenxin Rd. where they can be accessed on foot from the parking lot at the Civic Park. After the presence of the Environmental Protection Bureau, the Urban Development Bureau, and the Housing Development Bureau, time can be saved for document delivery and meeting attendance and efficiency of civic services can be improved to offer quicker and higher quality public services.
