Taichung citizens' long expected "Changchun Civil and Child Sport Center" was officially opened today (31st) which is Taichung's 4th civil sport center being operated. According to Mayor of Taichung, Lu Shiow-Yen, Changchun is Taiwan's only civil sport center equipped with indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as child sports facilities. Additionally, there are two squash rooms. Located inside Changchun Park where Green Waterway runs through, the Changchun Civil and Child Sport Center is a multifunctional, beautiful and ideal recreational site for family members.
Mayor Lu attended today's inauguration ceremony of the Changchun Civil and Child Sport Center and said before the establishment of the Center, there was the Changchun Swimming Pool that was built many years old with old facilities. She especially thanked the efforts and support of several councilmen and former mayors and finally, at the site, a brand-new community sports center was built. From its name, Changchun formally incorporated children into its design to allow family members to exercise at the Center at the same time.
According to the Sports Bureau, operations of the Changchun Civil and Child Sport Center were entrusted to Wu Dong Yang Guan Co., Ltd. and it was positioned as a community sports center consisting of Buildings A and B. Inside Building A, there are the outdoors swimming pool and children's swimming pool, indoor warm water swimming pool, SPA and sauna areas on Floor 1; multi-functional ball courses for basketball and badminton and two squash rooms on Floor 3; a designated area of child fitness on Floor 4, and a fitness center on Floor 5 while at Building B located near the Land God Temple in the park, there are yoga and aerobic classrooms and shower rooms. In the future, more courses will be offered for local residents.
Furthermore, incorporating into the scenic site design of the surrounding Cultural Heritage Park, Market 3, and Zhongxiao Night Market and Changchun Park as restored in the Improvement Construction of the Water Environment of Green Waterway, the Center now is a popular photo site featuring both sports and recreational functions. During its initial operating stage, free admissions were offered to the senior citizens and the disadvantaged. There were also incentives and multiple sports classes for the Citizens of Taichung.
Energetic child street dance kicked off today's commencement event and attendees of the ceremony included Mayor Lu. The Director General of the Construction Bureau, Chen Ta-Tian, Director General of the Bureau of Civil Affairs , Wu Shi-Wei, Director General of Information Bureau, Huang Kuo-Wei, Director General of the Sports Bureau, Lee Yu-Rui, Director of East District, He Yi-Chen, Director of South District, Chen Pei-Yu, Adviser of Civil Affairs, Chang Tai-Shan, Legislator, Huang Kuo-Shu, and Councilmen Cheng Kung-Chin, Lee Chung, Chiou Su-Chen, He Ming-Cheng, Chiang Chou-Kuo, and Lo Ting-Wei.
