Launch of the 2020 Xinshe Sea of Flowers and Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival on 11/21 with Expanded MTR Transit Services

The "2020 Xinshe Sea of Flowers and Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival" grandly began today (the 14th) during the trial operations of the Green Line of Taichung MRT, which will be held from November 16th to December 15th. To provide more convenient services to visitors of the Festival, from November 21st, additional free MRT transit services shall be provided for visitors traveling from MRT Sungzhu Station to the exhibition area of Xinshe Sea of Flowers. On Saturdays and Sundays, free MRT transit services shall be available from 8:00 to 18:00 at the interval of 15 to 20 minutes and buses shall start operating once all seats have been taken. Visitors are welcome to ride these buses. According to the Director General of the Transportation Bureau, Yeh Chao-Fu, this year, additional free shuttle bus services have been provided at MRT Sungzhu Station on weekends and passengers could wait for buses on Sungzhu Rd. side of Jioushe Park adjacent to Sungzhu Station after leaving the MRT Sungzhu Station from Exit 1. Passengers on foot will arrive at the bus station after about four minutes. They could also ride on the Taiwan Railway to Sungzhu Train Station and then they can reach the bus stop after walking for about five minutes. Transit services shall be available between November 21st and December 6th departing for Xinshe from 8:00 to 16:00 and returning to Sungzhu Station from 10:00 to 18:00 at the service interval of about 15 to 20 minutes. Buses shall start operating once seats have been fully taken. Additionally, riders could also take Bus 91, 91 Yen, 91 Rao, 264, 265, 270, 271, 272, 272 Rao, 275, 275 Qu, 276, 277, 278, 279 and 21 Yen Line 2 to arrive in the Xinshe area. Visitors are advised to take public transportation to the exhibition area to avoid inconvenience caused by traffic jams or vehicle control. According to Director General Yeh, the Transportation Bureau provides good transit services, and cares about pandemic control and prevention. Transit bus operators are requested to comply with the guidance of pandemic control and prevention operations to enhance the health management of service personnel, and to disinfect vehicles and bus stop facilities. Drivers and service personnel are asked to wear face masks. Visitors are requested to wear face masks when riding on the transit bus and have their body temperature measured. The name information of visitors, at least one from a group, shall be registered.
