To respond to the growing COVID-19 pandemic, the Taichung City Government incorporated with the "Fall-Winter COVID-19 Prevention Program" announced by the Central Government and required that since December 1st, visitors to all agencies of the Taichung City Government shall wear face masks. Those who refuse to wear face masks will be imposed fines of between NT$3,000 and NT$15,000. They are requested to comply with protocols such as body temperature measurement, hand disinfection and full-name registration to work together to prevent spreading the pandemic.
According to the Taichung City Government, the recent announcement of the "Fall-Winter COVID-19 Prevention Program" by the Central Government required mandatory mask-wearing at 8 major types of public venues including " healthcare facilities, public transportation, places of consumption, learning places, sports and exhibition venues, entertainment venues, religious and worship places, and public agencies." Among them, all levels of governmental agencies belong to the said "public agencies" and therefore, since December 1st, the Taichung City Government has implemented the compulsory mask-wearing measure at all of its agencies. Personnel in charge of delivery, takeout or mail services are requested to follow existing measures and use Floor 1 of the 2nd Civic Building at the intersection of Taiwan Boulevard, Yangming Rd., and Wenxin Rd. for their deliveries. The public is required to have their body temperature taken, maintain hand hygiene and register with their full names when using public services at governmental agencies.
The Taichung City Government reminded the public that refusal to wear face masks is subject to a fine between NT$3,000 and NT$15,000 according to the "Communicable Disease Control Act" and asked for the public's cooperation to prevent the pandemic.
