Since January 15th, new regulations will be imposed for ROC nationals returning to Taiwan and the requirement for one person per residence shall be followed by those who need to have home quarantine. Since last March, the Taichung City Government launched the alternative home quarantine sites for its citizens in need of home quarantine. To respond to the crowds returning home during the Chinese Lunar New Year holidays and increasing occupancies of those alternative sites, the Taichung City Government teamed up with the hotel industry to offer "family members" of those under home quarantine incentives with extra values. Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen stated the incentives offered by the hotel industry are applicable to all ROC citizens and she encouraged family members of those under home quarantine to stay in hotels and give their homes to those returning home and under home quarantine.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau today (12th) at the Civil Building held the "Press Conference on Teaming up with the Hotel Industry by the Taichung City Government to Offer Incentives with Extra Values for the Comfortable Stay for Family Members of Those under Home Quarantine." Mayor Lu pointed out that during the pandemic control and prevention period, hotels in Taichung City adopted the flow control measure and established the "alternative home quarantine sites" in compliance with the regulations of the Central Government by accepting only those required to home quarantine. At present, there have been 28 alternative sites providing the accommodation capacity of 1,723 rooms.
Mayor Lu said the peak time of the ROC citizens to return home was expected to be between January 18th and 27th. Rooms at the alternative sites were almost fully booked and furthermore, since January 15th, the Central Government will tighten the border control measures for the ROC nationals to return home. Hence, in addition to incentives of stay at safe and comfortable hotels, the incentive of NT$5,000 each residence in Taichung for family members of those under home quarantine during their continuous 14-night stay in hotels registered in Taichung City are provided without limitation on the number of residents but incentives are given to only citizens of Taichung City. Now the Taichung City Government again teamed up with the hotel industry to give "family members" of those under home quarantine to stay in safe and comfortable hotels with extra values of "accommodation incentives" applicable to all ROC citizens.
Lin Shiau-chi, Director General of the Tourism and Travel Bureau, said the Taichung City Government worked hand in hand with its citizens to prevent and control the pandemic and to lessen burdens of residences with family members under home quarantine, collateral relatives by blood or by marriage of those under home quarantine and isolation will be given the maximum incentive of NT5,000 when they continuously stay in the same hotel registered in Taichung City for 14 nights. They shall file the application for incentive to the local district office where they register their isolation address on home isolation or quarantine notification letter from the next day after they check out from the hotel to practically subsidize their hotel expenses during the period when their family is under home quarantine.
Liao Guo-Hung, President of the Taichung Tourist Hotel Association, Cheng Sheng-Chang, President of Taichung Hotel Association, Yu His-Hu, President of Taichung Municipality Hotel Association, and Lu Guan-Chun, President of Taichung B&B Association said that the hotel industry in Taichung is coordinating with the Taichung City Government's policy to leave their homes to those under home quarantine and welcome family members of those under home quarantine and isolation to stay in registered hotels to enjoy the incentives. They also offered extra values and at present with more than 40 hotels participating in the program and with more expected to join.
According to the Bureau of Tourism and Travel, from now to the end of June this year, except for the Chinese Lunar New Year holidays, some well-known five star chain hotels are offering discounts for family members of those under home quarantine for a stay of over four nights with the price of NT$2,000 per room per night. Additionally, a prominent five-star hotel in West District offered the lowest price of NT$800 per person per night for a stay for 14 continuous nights to lessen the burden on family members during their safe and comfortable stay.
