The Taichung City Government unveiled the 2021 Taichung Lantern Festival limited edition Year of the Ox lantern before the Chinese New Year. The lantern's pink color is complemented by golden ox horns, bells and coins, while creativity has been combined with the concept of pandemic prevention to produce adorable, lively accessories for surgical masks. Due to its limited quantity, to make sure that all citizens can receive a lantern, the Tourism and Travel Bureau has provided downloadable lantern components for the public to download and print. In this way, they do not have to go through the trouble of queuing in the line to get the lantern, and parents can also have fun making the lanterns with their children.
According to Tourism and Travel Bureau Director-General Lin Hsiao-Chi, this year's Lantern Festival has been canceled on account of the pandemic. In an effort to enhance Chinese New Year vibes, the lantern component files are available online together with assembly instructions video, allowing the public to download and print the lanterns at home, where parents can enjoy DIY activities with their children and celebrate the Lantern Festival by comparing who has assembled the best-looking little ox lantern.
