Taichung's tourism garners yet another international distinction. The list of winners for the 2021 Japan World's Tourism Film Festival was announced recently and Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau's Taichung. The Heart of Taiwan stood out from the competition to win the Best Southeast Asian Film Award, marking yet another successful endeavor in international marketing.
According to the Tourism and Travel Bureau Director-General Lin Hsiao-Chi, in support of tourism industry development and to cater to the tourists' increasing expectations towards tourism films, Wakayama University Center for Tourism Research and Setsunan University in Japan formed the Japan World's Tourism Film Festival Executive Committee to host the Japan World's Tourism Film Festival since 2019. The competition is divided into "Films of International" and "Films of Japan." This year (2021) marks the event's 3rd anniversary.
Director-General Lin pointed out that a total of 1,207 film entries were received this year. After careful review, Taichung city tourism film "Taichung. The Heart of Taiwan" won the Best Southeast Asian Film Award in the "Films of International" category at the Japan World's Tourism Film Festival. This is truly a remarkable achievement and she thanked the experts in the tourism sector for their recognition of Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau's ability in producing tourism marketing films.
A team from the Tourism and Travel Bureau tirelessly endeavored to produce the Taichung city tourism film by applying high-quality international major film production standards to transform Taichung City into the focus of Taiwan. Just 5 months after its debut in mid-2020, the film has accumulated over one million viewers on the online video-sharing platform. In addition to demonstrating its immense popularity among the public, the film has also become an international sensation, introducing a breath of fresh air into the tourism market in Taichung.
In the future, the Tourism and Travel Bureau will continue marketing Taichung to other international cities through this film, conveying a message to the world that the vibrant, lively city of Taichung is the premier tourist destination after the pandemic and border lockdown.
Taichung offers an abundance of tourism resources including a pleasant climate, bountiful produce, rolling hills and sunset seascape, as well as the ambiance of an international metropolis. The video highlights various unique destinations in Taichung, inviting everyone to visit Taichung and appreciate her beautiful attractions throughout the year.
