CECC confirms 8 more COVID-19 cases, including 3 domestic cases and 5 imported cases

On August 10, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced eight new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the eight new cases, three are domestic and the other five are imported. The CECC reported one death today.

The CECC pointed out that of the three domestic cases (of whom, one tested positive while the case in home isolation or completed the isolation period), one is male and the other two are female, aged between 20 to 69 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between August 2 and August 7, 2021. Regarding those domestic cases, all the cases were reported in New Taipei City.

The CECC pointed out that the one death (Case #13568) announced today was an over 50-year-old woman with chronic disease and history of contact with other confirmed cases.

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are two men and three women, aged between 10 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from France (Case #15899), the United States (Cases #15900 and #15901), Indonesia (Case #15904) and Switzerland (Case #15906), and arrived between June 28 and August 8.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,243,540 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,226,482. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,798 cases. Of the 15,798 confirmed cases, 1,299 are imported; 14,446 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 108 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 814 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 814 deaths, 806 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases
