This year, Taichung government will hold the 4th Taichung Shopping Festival in order to provide further stimulus to Taichung’s economy and to set another record.
The Economic Development Bureau of Taichung City Government indicated that, according to surveys conducted by online media, about 84% of the citizens thought that Taichung Shopping Festival helped to build the image of “Taichung is a good place to do the shopping” and attracted citizens in other parts of the country to shop in Taichung; 80.8% of people thought that this year’s Taichung Shopping Festival would help to raise people’s willingness to spend; 81.5% of people thought that Taichung Shopping Festival helped to facilitate the economic development of Taichung; and a whopping 83.6% of people supported Mayor Lu Shiow-yen to continue the Taichung Shopping Festival, highly affirming the high consumption power created by the 3rd Taichung Shopping Festival and bringing the highest level of anticipation for next year’s Taichung Shopping Festival.
The Bureau expressed that the 2021 Taichung Shopping Festival was supported mostly by citizens of Taichung with a total spending amount of NT$23.7 billion, followed by citizens of Changhua County (NT$1.5 billion) and Nantou County (NT$0.6 billion). Even Lianjiang County, which is located in the furthest reaches of the city, also contributed NT$5.17 million. This shows that this year’s shopping festival has successfully promoted the idea of “shopping in Taichung”. On average, every registered person has spent NT$39,727, registered 45 uniform invoices, and joined the lucky draw 148 times (with the invoice). With respect to e-commerce spending, the biggest consumption city is New Taipei City, followed by Taichung City and Taipei City; the hot-selling products include healthcare products, daily supplies, food, and cosmetics; and the cumulative business revenue reached NT$121,240,608, with 127,941 items sold.
The Bureau explained that the Taichung Shopping Festival had expanded in scale and over 60,000 people won prizes, resulting in a delay in real-time redemption works. This is the reason that some winners have yet to receive the prize, and Taichung City Government will humbly review the prize redemption process and expedite the outstanding redemption and remittance works. At the moment, the prize redemption team already received 45,993 winner records. Among them, 39,087 records have been sent to the Bureau, and 24,797 have been redeemed. Taichung City Government would like to thank everyone for their support of the Taichung Shopping Festival last year and will continue to hold the 4th Taichung Shopping Festival this year in order to keep boosting the economy.
