To comprehensively increase the vaccine coverage, Taichung City Government has, after the launch of the vaccine incentive for citizens receiving their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine last year, launched an additional vaccine incentive campaign. From tomorrow (the 5th) until January 31, those who are aged 18 or above and receiving the first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at any of Taichung City’s contracted medical institutions, community outreach vaccine sites, or through corporation or other group arrangement will receive a gift card of NT$200 regardless of their household location or nationality. The Health Bureau of Taichung City Government explained that the vaccination site would issue the recipient with a voucher first and, upon arrival of the gift card, notify the recipient to exchange the voucher for the gift card. This campaign is designed to encourage those who are qualified for vaccination to receive the vaccine as soon as possible.

The Health Bureau expressed that, as of 8 am today, the recipient number for the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine was 2,361,262, with a population coverage rate of 83.90%; the recipient number for the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine was 2,004,377 people, with a population coverage rate of 71.22%; the recipient number for booster vaccine was 628, with a booster vaccine coverage rate of 0.022%; and the recipient number for the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine was 18,368, with a population coverage rate of 0.59%. In total, 4,384,635 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the City .

The Bureau states that the City Government has sufficient vaccine supply at the moment and has already received 64 workplace or community-based COVID-19 vaccination bookings. As of yesterday, 59 of them have been completed and a total of 4,182 people received the COVID-19 vaccine. The City Government calls on workplaces and communities to arrange for COVID-19 vaccination with local health offices, as long as there are at least 30 people getting the same type of vaccine.
